Grand Funk in their original trio era with all their young powers and charisma were a unstoppable force full of courage and guts on stage, a platoon of three men

That beat is all I want right now and thanks to Grand Funk for their talent and the freedom we all had back then and they give to us without any thought, just taking it and making that vibration come to life…as simple and beautiful as we want to ❤

My best friend and I were 17 years old when this album came out, and we listened to it constantly as we cruised the streets of our hometown. We were young, free, and wild as the wind, and to quote Sir Elton John, "I never knew me a better time, and I guess I never will." RIP Zip.

The recording and sound of this album is so intense that you feel that you are there in front of the speakers they played with so much energy and the recording captured that, an album criticized by the purists of their time also grand funk criticized for their music,. But this album proofs that is passing the test of time,. So much energy from beginning to end,. Some other live albums by other Rock groups are very uneven in energy this one is 💯 all the time ,. Grand funk between 1968-1973 just just amazing.

Saw GFR in late '72 at Denver Colosseum. Cost me 4 bucks to get in. Before greed hit rock & roll. Freakin awesome. Saw them again after the fall. They had become, "An American Band". 1973. I witnessed the downfall of great Rock & Roll & I must say, it was very disheartening. I have always blamed the democrat party & MTV. R.I.P. - Rock & Roll... Very glad to have known you.

Being a drummer this my most played song on the whole album. I have all of the GFRs albums so when CDs came around I had to get all of GFRs stuff on CD. What's really funny is that on the CD the song goes over to the next track which is TNUC when Mark says alright. That's why just listening to this song for the first time you may wonder, where did they ever come up with the title of this song? Just Sayin'.

This has always been one of my favorite albums of all time - the intensity of this album from start to finish is palpable. And this song gets referred to by GFR as a "jam" which I always thought was interesting, because I always think of a jam as a free flowing improvised piece. However, this "jam" is really pretty intricate and has some complex parts and timings. And the driving tempo is relentless! It seems to me this had to be well thought out and practiced MANY times to get it down as tight and perfect as it is performed here. It becomes really apparent how difficult this song is to play when you try to play it - here's my bass cover of it kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKSXf5Spg92mbsk which is fun to try to play, but Mel just knocks it out of the park on this album and especially on this song!
