Every teen loves the music that's live around them.... But the live music of my teen years 1969-1975.... I wouldn't trade that for anyone else's "teen" years... It was generationally special, meaning it's appreciated with enthusiasm by generations that followed. A true Golden Age.

This is THE American rock anthem without a doubt. The riff by itself is one of the modt unique and unmistakeable riffs of all time just like "Smoke On The Water" & "Mississippi Queen." This was the Golden Age of Rock (1969-1974) and no period could match it for the number of power bands, music composition, or quality.

Did you know that before GFR, Mel Schacher played bass for a Bay City, Michigan Latino garage band: " ? and the Mysterians "... (their big hit in 1966 was "96 Tears") -- although Mel played with them after that song was released, and then only for a little while until their regular bass player got back from Viet Nam. BTW, the lead singer ?'s real name is Rudy Martinez, and he was brought into that band for his dancing ability! Go figure. And while I'm on the subject of Michigan rock stars, how about James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born in Muskegon in '47) -- known now as Iggy Pop. Apologies for my digressing, GF was huge in the '70s and one of the best!

It is truly mind boggling that the jerks (committee) has yet to induct Grand Funk, one of the greatest bands of the 70s into the rock and roll hall of fame. Or should I say rock and roll hall of SHAME!

+Ralph Rivera the rock and roll hall of fame is not a real institution - someone made it up to make money - it's not like it was founded to serve as some sort of true music museum or some such.

Yeah it's a true shame. But NWA and Tupac can be inducted before GFR and other great classic rock acts from that era
