Being a drummer myself most people have NO idea how hard it is to play drums, keep proper time AND sing at the same time....it take a LOT of practice
@vincentzito3933
@vincentzito3933 2 жыл бұрын
I know I have to go on stage and do this song in a few weeks and I'm the drummer... I also sing Love me two times and Cry to me in my band. Love me two times has been hard as a mother fucker to sing and play at the same time. Cry to me, not so hard. But yes it takes practice and it throws your rhythm off if you think too hard. 🤣🤣🤣

Never heard of this show, can't be American TV, certainly not Midnight Special or Kirshner Rock Concert. I was obsessed with this song when it was all over the radio when I was a frosh in HS, 1974. The ultimate party rock and roll song. Played it all the time in the locker room as we were dressing for football practice. What strange things we can recall when linked to a tune 🤔

The clothes were designed by the famous photographer and designer Lynn Goldsmith. They were made for the Shinin’ On Tour and they glowed in the dark. Mark Farner also played an aluminum Veleno guitar for this tour too. When the lights hit the guitar it would shine back out into the audience. 🚂💨💨💨 🇺🇸 🎸

That song has so much power, it builds and builds and builds, dude sings his ass off. Playing drums and singing full tilt is a rare talent. When that song comes on, you turn it up and drive faster than everyone else. Rock n roll law .

Todd Rundgren produced this and he said he never saw a band so well-rehearsed as GFR. They were so well prepared they were able to release this song as a single and it hit #1 while they were still recording the album

Frank Zappa said the same thing. He said they never rehearsed , GFR would come into the studio and cut an album in an hour, Just sing and play it thru in 1 take, What you hear on the albums is actually them playing " Live " . Frank said it took other bands a week to record an album. He said Grand Funk is 10 feet tall.

Loudest rock band ever recorded. Saw them in '75 at the Waterbury, CT Palace Theater. They were so loud, there were noise complaints from 3 blocks away and the Waterbury cops tried to stop the show. Didn't happen. GFR were banned from returning. Seems they caused a few cracks in the building and all future bands had to sign a maximum DB sound level clause. I saw Black Sabbeth there several years later, and they were not as loud as they were when I'd seen them in the past at a different venue.

First heard these men live in Nacogdoches, Texas 1972(ish). They were in old Shelton gym. About 6 months later Chicago, Three Dog Night, and the Brothers Doobie had all played on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Good tunes for a $5.00 ticket. I was 12 and still remember the pot smell being so strong you could literally smell it BLOCKS north because of the summer breeze from the south. They were excellent ...still are.
