@Behemoth civil war is very deep. True znapleonic or 100 years would be cool but there is tactical depth but could be overhauled but is good as is. Unit types exist but can be expanded on. Legendary generals the issue is Sherman isn’t a legendary gen at the beginning you have to make it that way and I like it like that. Also who’d you’d play besides union or confed in the civil war

The timberclad gunboats in the Mississippi is historical, they were a stopgap measure before they could get proper ironclads built and performed well at the battle of fort Henry where they easily overwhelmed the poorly positioned forts batteries to capture the fort before Grants troops even reached the fort

General James Shields (25:13) from CA was a real general in the Civil War. Prior to the war, he served in a variety of political (Senator from three different states!) and legal positions, fought in the Mexican-American War, and almost fought a duel with Abraham Lincoln in the 1840s. He was only "from" CA in the sense that he had been living in CA briefly immediately prior to the Civil War. He resigned from the Army in 1862 after his promotion to Major General was rejected. I'm guessing the developers don't currently have an adequate picture they can use for the stat card UI.

Edward Dickinson Baker (February 24, 1811 - October 21, 1861) was an American politician, lawyer, and military leader. In his political career, Baker served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois and later as a U.S. Senator from Oregon. He was also known as an orator and poet A long-time close friend of the President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, Baker served as U.S. Army colonel during both the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. Baker was killed in the Battle of Ball's Bluff while leading a Union Army regiment, becoming the only sitting U.S. senator ever to be killed in a military engagement.

To make a comment about the treasury surplus and bonds that you mentioned towards the end of the video, my understanding (not totally sure on this, but still) is that the taxes come in large chunks, maybe even yearly, and that you take loans to make up the gap until the cash comes in and you can pay it back. Honestly though in my experience with the game so long as your not throwing money into a furnace you should be completely fine with taking a lot of debt so long as your credit rating doesn't drop too much.

24:00 first time I've ever seen Quincy actually represented on a map. If anything it's usually just Springfield and Chicago and sometimes Peoria that get all the attention. But seeing as Lincoln had a history here it makes sense that it's actually labelled on a game for once, along with all the other towns in the area. If it isn't apparent I live around there. Pre-war there was actually a small skirmish between Lincoln and Douglas supporters just south of Quincy on the outskirts of Payson, a small local town. Quincy was primarily in support of Lincoln but Payson was for Douglas. Payson residents gathered and mocked Lincoln supporters as they passed Payson on their way to a rally, as Lincoln was in Pittsfield at the time. As the story goes, supposedly, on their way back to Quincy a few Payson residents fired on the group and may or may not have wounded a few guys. Details are pretty vague and mostly come from Lincoln's side so they're likely a bit biased. But it's a pretty neat bit of history leading up to the war proper. Illinois may have been a northern state but lots of smaller communities, especially those bordering Missouri such as Payson, weren't happy with it. Makes sense why Lincoln would place some focus on the area.

The Kentucky thing does bug me. Historically Kentucky was majority Unionist, (and even using the word "majority" seems like an understatement in this case). It shouldn't matter (and didn't matter in reality) whether or not the Confederates can "get there first with the most", it shouldn't (and didn't) suddenly align with the CSA. Kentucky is the only state that was *retroactively* made a Confederate state long after the war was over by lost cause sympathizers. As far as border states go, Missouri was probably the most likely to be swayed amongst them, and even then there was still too much Union sentiment to pull it off. Even in the seceded states themselves the CSA had war-long troubles with Unionist stronghold communities.

@filipinorutherford78183 жыл бұрын
Yeagh its a wargame..... so that battles need to be fun. Its so difficult to get your guys to do anything. The graphics of the soldiers doesnt really tell you much. One minute you get a report that they are engaging the enemy and the next thing is your guys are routed, no way of gauging how the fight is going until they run. In Sid Meirs Gettysburg they have blocks of morale, formation position ie flanks covered, cover, comanders experience etc etc that fills up with a red line due to casualties and other morale factors such as them being higher ground to you. Also the flag flutters or flashes in certain ways so as show the morale level. No way of getting surprised if your guys flee as you can gauge how quikly their morale bar is dropping. The standard of tactical musket warfare video games these days are Empire Total War and Grand Strategy American Civil War. They should be trying to be on par game wise with them. Maybe they should do a deal with these companies to have a better tactical battle and they focus on the strategic level?

No developer could feed themselves if they only asked for $5. It's ok to say the game isn't worth that much for you, but the game devs are going to sell games for what they need to sell them for, if its too much then they likely will give up the trade and move on to do something else, if its for too little and the game doesn't sell enough, they will likely give up the trade and move onto something else. It's a fine line of pricing what people will pay and what you need to survive, but generally speaking I wont complain if a dev charges whatever price they want, at the end of the day its either worth it for me, or its not, but it's not something I'm going to complain to a dev about, its their game, their right to charge what they want or think they should, as consumers its our right to decide if its a good price or not.

That's a bit of an entitled view. The Price of a product should reflect what the producer thinks its worth, you the consumer can then agree or disagree on the price and choose to pay it or not, but you're not entitled to a lower price, you just don't pay it if you don't think it's worth that. I wouldn't pay a Mercedes price for an Opel, but I also wouldn't presume to call Opel and tell them to lower their price.
