I realized that Michael and Franklin are pretty similar. Both became two-bit gangsters to three-bit gangsters that have crazy best friends (Lamar, Trevor)

That's the whole point. Michael is Franklin's mentor because he sees himself in Franklin and wants to help Franklin avoid making all the mistakes he made.

Franklin seems to be the least popular of the trio, but I actually really liked Franklin, definitely a successor to CJ and Luis Lopez. As great as Michael and Trevor are, Franklin's my fav because he's incredibly chill and reasonable, and I like his progression out of the hood

It’s sort of weird because usually a character by the end of a story changes but Franklin sort of doesn’t. He meets all kinds of people in this criminal world from Stretch to Devin to Michael and Trevor etc but he doesn’t let any of these people change his outlook and his principles (this is if you pick option C) He doesn’t become a gangbanger like Lamar and Stretch doomed to live a fantasy holding him back from doing better in life nor does he become a snake like Michael or give in to being a complete nutcase like Trevor. He wants to let go of people like Lamar, Michael and Trevor but realises that’s not the right thing to do. Franklin’s story is about whether someone can keep their principles in a world of terrible people and the choice at the end determines whether Franklin stays true to himself or gives in out of selfishness.
