I quite like that the game is slowly moving away from being solely focused on war and conquest but more and more on peaceful roleplay and story growth. I wonder how well the two will fit together for multiplayer games.

I think it's because pdx realized that before they were competing with themselves. Like this they have different genres of games that accomodate different niches. CK is becoming more and more a roleplay ruler game, vic is becoming a economy diplomacy game. Idk what they have planned for EU5 though since there are places where they could massively improve over 4.

An idea for multiplayer is give a setting to allow players to join other peoples tournaments no matter what and everyone participates (even if they are far away) so the game doesnt slow to a crawl for others.

I do think wars need a overhaul in CK3 (it's a problem when you have Crusades in the title but your crusades are broken) but on the flip side I do thinking the drift from map painting is 100% the right move. Really excited for this expansion.

man are crusaders broken or what! they are impossible to win, even if you dont get in the top 3 participants. they are only winnable when you are already OP and can send massive troops but not even then cause you may have an impressive 20k personal army but the enemy has a combined 30-40k army and your alliance are all scattered. I think all could be fixed if there were features that lets allies coordinate better

I hope they add the ability to play as someone unlanded It'd be dope to start out as a stable boy or something and be around horses so you're great at jousting making a name for yourself at tourneys and then you get a small tower after impressing a lord enough or being his champion and winning. A true way to start from scratch and build up

I understand wanting to roleplay this but it's definitely not a "true way" to start from scratch and build up. Stable boys would've been adolescent peasants and they wouldn't have known to the first thing about jousting or combat in general. They definitely wouldn't have risen up to becoming a landed champion. Modern people can't even begin to image how immobile the medieval world was. Even the poster boy for this William Marshall was already apart of that time's 1% because his father was a baron.

From what little has been said, Legendary Hunt is the new systems method of doing what already is in the game... when you get that 'rare White Stag' event line. It's just been tidied up in the new system... you need to hear rumors of the 'legendary' beast in question, and go hunt it.

Please allow player characters to personally fight in battles. My carefully crafted martial characters just sit there with insane prowess instead of putting it to use and scoring kills in battle.

This seems more RPG than grand strategy. Also, the most expensive tournament set-up would be ~1,000 gold which would cost more than it takes to form an empire? I guess this could be more for stable polities or lower ranked rulers far from the borders. It seems niche but maybe expanding an empire is niche too.

It's both an update to the base game, as well as an expansion adding additional paid content. It's fairly complex figuring out whats free and whats paid... but for example, the 'travel' system revamp is a base update thing coming to everyone, while things like tours and grand marriages, which utilize that system, are from the paid expac.

So I guess now my brave 20 prowess knight heir won't randomly get maimed by the 8 prowess random enemy knight? Because so far Brave is a fkin deathsentence to your heirs (and what's more laughable the game doesn't seem to take into account how much prowess or martial skill/traits they have - otherwise please explain how my Berserker Viking Varangian son got maimed by Sir Noonecares his liege's steward with 8 prowess). And unless that changes growing your knights and having accolades will prove useless in the end.

A lot of Knight accolades boost injury resistance as a default. As does Hastiluder trait buffs for some of the paths. Paradox actually had a game they let play through and had a single AI lord fully develop all paths of the Hastiluder trait... absolute unit of a man. But bad RNG will still kill, there's no way to reduce the chance to zero... and there shouldn't be. It's literally war.

Looks cool but still does not solve the core problem in ck3 for me, which is the lack of family "progression" or development. I can easily see me loving this DLC for 3 or 4 playthroughs and not caring about it anymore because once my character that participated in the events shown in the video dies, nothing of it remains (except maybe a few royal court itens), which makes investing more time into longer campaings unworthwhile.
