I'm born and raised in eastern North Carolina, part of the American South. I've got a simple, two-ingredient recipe for American biscuits if you'd like to try it out. Simply combine equal parts of heavy whipping cream and self-rising flour. Roll out (thick or thin, the biscuits will be thicker or thinner accordingly) the dough and use a biscuit or cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (204°C) for about 15 minutes (depending on how brown you like the tops you can leave them for a few more minutes). The tops can be brushed with butter or milk to aid in browning. Your dad is an absolute treasure and you are so lucky to have a father like him in your life. We would love to have y'all visit us here in North Carolina. We're a friendly, welcoming bunch of folks and a great place to visit. ❤ to you both from eastern North Carolina!❤❤ ❤❤

Strawberries are a great choice on your part. In Arkansas (well, at OUR house 😂) we like crispy bacon or homemade breakfast sausage patties with it….and we pour the chocolate on the bacon/sausage too! It’s DIVINE!

​@@grandadjoe1933 The biscuits indeed do look perfect Babs! although I have never heard of chocolate gravy in my life. Red-eye gravy made with coffee, yes. Chocolate gravy, no -- unless it is something that they have borrowed from Oaxaca México. In the future, if you want to make your dad a summertime treat, you can slice the strawberries and let them sit for a couple of hours with a couple of teaspoons of sugar. It will bring out the juices. Then you can open up the biscuits and serve the strawberries and the juice on top to make strawberry shortcake. The biscuits soak in the juice and it's really lovely.

What a beautiful singing voice! I love watching. I am from Tennessee, but I don’t have a dab hand for biscuits. I am a little jealous you made such beautiful biscuits. I make pretty good buttermilk cornbread though. Cornbread can be eaten with beans (soup beans here in Appalachia) or stew. It’s really good with butter too. I grew up eating left over cornbread with milk sometimes for a snack. My grandsons, aged 14 and 13, say bustin’ when they think something is really good.
