More like his whole family got lost on the way. It _did_ take them three years to get to the East Blue when they're near the end of the Grand Line. If we remove the Time Skip from the equation, it's only been a few months from East Blue to Wano (let's be generous and say about 6 or so). I'd call taking three years getting pretty lost. He's probably come by that skill honestly. XD

There was an interesting point about Zoros heritage mentioned by Tekking that could have been the way to tie it into the main story of Wano. Zoro would likely be the heir to Ringo so you could have had a conversation with someone (Hyogoro maybe) revealing this and asking Zoro if he would take up his rightful place as Daimyo only for him to refuse in favour of travelling with Luffy

in the future strawhats that oda has drawn in sbs it seems like they go separate way even in the good timeline. So it's not impossible for him to just settle down on wano, instead of becoming daimyo, maybe he would run a dojo to train next strongest swordman to fight him. With wano opened, swordsman all over the world might go to wano to challange him and his disciples(or become disciples themselves).

@@vanessacherche6393 nah kuina is dead and gone. They even had a whole funeral. Once a character death is shown like that it’s over. And I think Kuina being alive cheapens Zoro’s motivation to be the strongest swordsman, because Kuina wanted to be the strongest sword woman and Zoro is in a way carrying on her will. At most, Tashigi just looks eerily similar to Kuina or she’s a really distant relative that’s it. Also One Piece is perfectly capable of delving into dark topics, such as slavery and genocide. So Kuina falling to her death down the stairs isn’t too dark for One Piece.

About the latter members of the Straw Hat's knowledge of the earlier events in the crew's existence, I think it's worth to point out that Nami did keep a logbook of the crew's adventures at least until Arabasta. Since no events in that arc seemingly would prompt her to stop writing the logbook (and they probably emptied the Merry of their belongings, including the logbook, by the time it was taken by Franky during the Aqua Laguna at Water 7, so it's difficult to imagine it burned with the ship during it's funeral), it's reasonable to assume Nami kept writing the logbook up until now and thus it's also reasonable to assume members like Franky, Brook and Jimbei could have had time to go through it to catch up with the crew's past.

Remember the whole deal with Tashigi being VERY similar to Kuina back then which sparked many over the top theories. I just thought of something which would make a lot of sense. The recent sbs stated that 25 Shimotsuki members sailed from Wano. After they saved a village from mountain bandits in the east blue, only 10 members decided to settle thus founding the Shimotsuki Village. After reading it again, I thought to myself, "What happened to the other 15?". That's when I thought about the possibility that Tashigi might be descended from one of the 15 Wano immigrants who didn't settle in Shimotsuki Village. This theory would make a lot of sense and would explain her uncanny resemblance with Kuina. She's basically a long distance relative. It'd also add to how she's very knowledgeable on almost every famous sword.

I personally like the fact that Oda didn't put an uno reverse card on the effects of the smile fruits. Firstly because I like the idea of Momo turning Wano in a country full of joy, where people don't care about eating the smile fruits, because they don't want to cry anyway. Secondly because I feel like getting just rid of the effects of the smile fruits negates some of the impact, Kaido and Orochi had on Wano, which makes the story more impactful (Like in avatar, when the fire nation is defeated it's not like everything is how it was, the airbenders are still gone and it will take time to heal this wound). Thirdly, because even though smile fruits are not something I'd want to be exposed to, it's not like the effect is that detrimental, even if you've eaten a smile fruit it's not like you're unable to feel sadness, you just can't express it in a regular way, but unlike mutilation or brainwashing there's no real physical or mental detriment involved (unless you're an actor or something).
@7thlittleleopard7
@7thlittleleopard7 Жыл бұрын
I also like it because Devil Fruits are stuck to you until death. To remove the powers of one from someone, even if a fake one like the Smiles, lowers the rest of the fruit and the absolute madness that is Blackbeard stealing fruit powers. It's an established fact that Devil Fruits can only be reborn after ones' death, and I don't know why a scientist would specifically remove that aspect of a fruit meant to power someone up. Of course you'd want it to last forever. They didn't give a damn about Smiles causing side effects like forever-laughter, so why would they care to eliminate part of the construction of Devil Fruits that causes them to be bound to you for life? Or that the ocean weakens you? It's honestly more likely that they couldn't so just didn't bother so they could pump out a huge amount at a lower cost. I wonder if any Smile fruits would be reborn on the death of their holders, though? How 'true' to Devil Fruit lore are they?

I would imagine some mental detriment comes from being unable to properly express your real feelings. I'm doubtful that's a stress-free experience. Makes me think of Nilah. One of the newest League of Legends champions. She is forced to be joyful all of the time due to the unknown nature of her contract with one of Runeterra's primordial demons. She has a few voice lines expressing how taxing that can be. Of course, what she's experiencing is a bit different, but it's pretty similar. Also, I think it's debatable whether or not curing the smile fruit thing would actually diminish the impact. Because it would just be a more prompt partial healing of the wounds, sort of akin to Aang and Zuko pretty immediately ending just about all violent hostilities across the world after Ozai was defeated. That left the scars you speak of from the extinction of the air nomads and the general trauma left by the long war. Curing the direct effects of the smile fruits would still leave the trauma from said effects and from the long tyrannical period in their history. Not necessarily negating the effects, but just lessening potential further suffering.

His history with Ryuma is important but that story isn't done yet, and the big reveal for him in Wano was that every one of his swords in some way carries the weight of his Wano and Shimotsuki Village heritage. It was about his cultural identity, and who his mother and father are are completely irrelevant. i think the 4 last crew members knows about the adventures before they joined, as if i remember correctly, after brook joined the crew, there was an episode about him finding his place aboard, spending time with zoro, nami etc, he struggled a bit and i think he read nami's book where she writes everything that happens to the crew, and i think he actually asked her "did you really went to an island in the sky ?" i'm not sure about it so i'll go check, but it's not impossible. edit: got it ! "Brook's Hard Struggle - The Difficult Path of Becoming a True Comrade?" episode 384.

There was a missed opportunity for a little running gag in Wano. Could've had all these random people trying to tell Zoro about his lineage or people who were probably related to him and then Zoro is just keeps missing what they say. He either gets lost while they're talking to him, gets drunk and sleepy, or the conversation is interrupted by off-screen fighting that Zoro wants to join.

I don’t remember who but sometime during the story I remember Nami or someone showing someone else there log book of there past adventures so I just assumed that the new members would eventually come across that during one of the down times on the ship and that’s how they’d figure out everything in the past

i just can't believe what i just learn about Tama! The fact that she is now the only living Kurozumi left in existence. Just imagine what would happen if Momo and Hiyori found out about this. My guess is that when word got out of her being a Kurozumi, The Citizen of Wano wanted to burn her and end the bloodline but Momo (Being Shogun) decide to pardon her (and only her) for her great-grandfather/uncle deeds of what he tried to do when he tried to be Shogun.

To be fair, Oda messed up the entire importance of found family the second he introduced Luffy's father and grandfather. From that moment on it is actually clear as day that blood relation is important. The Kozuki plot line hammered that down even more, not to mention all the D stuff and conquerors haki. All blood related matters that are far more important than any found family plot we've had so far.

Great video. When watching the part about how Luffy's Elite Commanders can referenced to the land, sky, and sea, it gave me the idea where they could be Luffy's equivalent to starter Pokémon. For example, Zoro is a Grass/Steel Type, Sanii is a Fire/Flying Type, and Jinbe is a Water/Fighting Type!

Yeah I'm not fussed that we learned about Zoro's family in the SBS, it just means that Oda isn't planning to make that an important part of the story, it's just kind of extra information that you can learn if you're interested, but it's not important to the story.

I'm still sad we didn't get more flashbacks of Zoro's past in the story since I've been wanting to know more since Baratie. I like your spin on it, it makes it a little more bearable...well I'm trying to tell myself that. Heh heh. I was hoping for a bit more flashback on Zoro since we've had a flashback and/or explanation on all the Strawhats to this point. I know we didn't have a childhood flashbacks for Brook or Jimbe but we did get a good bit of back story on each of them (multiple episodes of just back story). All the strawhats have had multiple episodes of their past, leaving Zoro with very brief flashback bits. The release of the SBS crushed my hopes that possibly in the future we would still get something more of Zoro's past in the story, despite it not in Wano. So, overall I am sad. I still like your take! Keep the great vids coming!

What annoys me is that ODA could've put Zorro stuff into Wano instead of a lot of rubbish that ODA did put in there. Sure Wano was long. But it had a lot of useless stuff that was either pointless or could've been condensed alot this opening room for stuff that feels better and connecting. After all, it was long before Wano where the fan base was saying things like.. Wano is Zorro arc, his backstory arc etc.

Solid point that some would have complained about Wano being even more bloated if this was in a flashback. I agree. There's obviously no perfect answer. But for me, I'm fine w it. And I like the theme of Zoro doesn't care, so the reader shouldn't. That feels like a cool little meta touch

I would say that just because Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma it doesn't give him the right to inherit Shusui, because Ryuma was buried in the Ringo region of Wano, where it's customary for Samurai of that region to be gifted a sword at their birth that they're then buried with upon their death, and is considered sacrilege to remove those swords from their graves.

I do like to see The Roronoa Family showed up in Flashbacks in One Piece one day. I do like to see Oda show what Nami’s family looked like since we pretty much don’t see a Nami Flashback to see her parents what happened to them since pirates had destroyed Nami’s birth village and her foster sister had stated she never seen Nami’s parents when she found Nami as a baby.

Same here, and I don't know how you truly feel about this. It is cringe and annoying for fans who say they are happy or glad about how Oda was done and saying it makes the most sense, that sound almost like a Zoro hater but they are not a hater and I get it. It just feels like a weird vibe. It is hard for me to agree that it makes sense Oda didn't reveal Zoro's family in the story but I get that, Zoro doesn't care but most Zoro fans and I knew that or that we(not all of Zoro fans and other fans) don't care. Still, it would be nice to show them in the story, just not the whole thing, and save for another flashback in the future where it could be important or not. I still do think we will see them later. I honestly am not disappointed, I'm very glad to know about his family a little bit and the fact he's a great-nephew of Ushimaru and a direct descendant of Ryuma. Nami's birth parents' plot is mysterious.

Somehow, to cure the smile effect, you need to be able to cure from effects of a (imperfect) demon fruit... This could even lead to the ability to permdelete fruit users's abilities. This is something very serious and very advance One Piece science. If it can be done, this is most undoubtly alongside Vegapunk. Might it be by creating a fruit that suppress fruits effects ? Could the lineage factor of Black Beard's Yami Yami help ? In any case, it's not likely to happen soon and if Vegapunk survive (or his knowledges !), it looks like an after-ending quest for Chopper
