I was under the impression that the flashback DID confirm Joyboy's size being rather large. Its true that the protagonist usually loses first, as you said, but we are into the end of the story and we need to start making wins if we are really going to start feeling like Luffy deserves to be on the level of the other biggest players. Honestly that seems kind of weird to me since it always seemed the splitting of the sky wasn't just due to intense haki It seemed to specifically be two separate sources clashing and the split of the sky is representative not just of the raw force of the combined tube but the competition between the two So I was always under the impression that even if say you took white beard and increased his haki by double it wouldn't split the sky It would do something else due to a lack of competition with another source of energy
