Yes, an authentic Italian American version of pasta fazool ! I'm amazed that many people think they're eating pasta fazool from that famous chain restaurant when all they're eating is some weird chili concoction. Your mom's is the real deal BB guys and miss seeing her in your new videos.

Your mom makes me think of mine and those Mama's and Nona's in Astoria who used to love me because I had a 6'4" frame challenging them to fill it up! Not only did they fill me up, but they also taught me how to make the dishes. By 14, I was an early team member for Holiday feasts. First, I'd peel all the potatoes and chop the celery and onions at home, then I was on Slice and Chop duty at my friends' houses. I loved helping with the fish on Christmas eve. Often, since they knew my "Nanny" was a great cook, they'd send a dish from their home to ours as a thanks for my help. Then I'd always bring a surprise from our German kitchen for their dinner. This reminds me of those days when we made a community by working together and sharing our food and culture with wonderful people. Plus, we gained an appreciation of good, different, and GARLIC! And Cherry Peppers, too!

I do the same with either pancetta or guanciale to add a meat flavor to the base. I also puree a can of beans to thicken and use a little less pasta. A great “cold weather” dish.

...so glad I stumbled on your YT channel. The cooking is spot on, as my grandmothers, aunts, and mother prepared these recipes just like or very very similar to the way youse guys do the cooking. My grandmother made a dish using chicken & stock , escarole, fresh grated parmesan cheese, she also did a dish using white clam sauce , spaghetti and broccoli. Do either of these ring any bells? I live in south Texas, 40+ years now; my family lived in White Plains, Rye, Bronx, Brooklyn Queens by way of Naples and Sicily. Anyway guys, what a treat for my ears and eyes!

Prefer to keep the pasta separated from the beans so pasta does not soak up all the liquid. Serve with paramasean, raw diced onion, black and red pepper
