Daniel’s a class act. Getting cheated sucks normally, it must be even worse when you’re a gm playing a “1300” live on stream. The fact that he gave him the benefit of the doubt twice (during and after the game), and even defended him before running the analysis shows a lot of sportsmanship and respect for his opponents.
@ashscott60684 жыл бұрын
Well, a GM pretending to be a 1300, is as cheaty as a machine pretending to be a 1300. Though I believe he gives the players back their lost Elo. I don't know how how that is arranged. It must be done after the series is over, cus he needs to keep ranking up
@TRXSTA384 жыл бұрын
I'm merely speculating of course, but imo his words don't match his body language when he talks about giving his opponent's the benefit of the doubt. He goes in, expecting to find cheating (and probably reasonably so). Although, how else does one beat a GM other than by playing top quality moves? Of course that's what checking with an engine would find.
@ExecuteDemocracy4 жыл бұрын
@@TRXSTA38 GM’s aren’t unbeatable, which is why Daniel was being very humble and explaining that this could be someone that’s very talented at Chess with a low rating. GM’s can be beaten because they’re human, they make errors. Playing a game with almost 100% accuracy and winning is something Is only achievable by a computer. If the person he was playing against made some blunders, or their accuracy was within the 80% range, then it shows that it could be a person they were playing against - as again, humans can make mistakes and can’t see 30-40 moves into he future. To play a 100% accurate game you’d have to be able to see 30-40 moves in advance and calculate the probability of each move being played. You then have to calculate how a single move by your opponent would change the 30-40 moves you have already planned out, all in the space of a few seconds. It’s when he saw the accuracy % the chat and he realised that something was definitely amiss, but again wanted to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Checking with Stockfish showed the exact same pattern of moves the guy was playing, Qa4 was the move that was the most suspicious as he could have gone anywhere, yet made a random move that looked like it served no purpose at all.
@TimmyTheRookie4 жыл бұрын
@@TRXSTA38 however usually multiple moves of very similar quality exist, sometimes the computer doesn't even show the best move in the situation, rather one that it's depth thinks is best (think kasparov beating deep blue by knowing this fact and playing for the endgame, which the engine did not take into account when making the moves). Moves like the king move and the qa4 move take calculations, a gm might find them as best with enough time, but them coming at the same speed as every other move? While plenty of other seemingly as good (and likely very similarly scored by engine, but just not preferred by it) moves exist which are more "natural" so to say. Moves that do not pose direct threats and are seemingly random, are the hallmark of engine moves, as even the best players in the world very rarely play such moves , humans usually have direct plans with their moves - threaten something, attack something, defend something, attack or defend in prophylaxis or preparation. Meanwhile, while these ingenious seemingly random engine best moves were found in the 3 seconds, the forced moves and the obvious mating moves and take-back moves also took 3 seconds, as did the opening moves. If you are so good to find these deep and small moves so quickly, how do you play your opening and forced moves so slowly? Opening should be theory, the first 5-10 moves are almost premoved in most high level plays, they don't take any thought. And how do you mess up your opening so, the knight to the side move made no sense for a person who supposedly can find a seemingly nothing engine move on an empty board with a queen within seconds.

I’m not a gm or titled player, but when a 1300 plays moves that are the best and require deep thought every couple seconds at an equal pace, he’d have to be easily 2400+ blitz, he was playing like he just knew the moves and didn’t analyze them. Like 3 second prophylactic king f1 best move…. get out of here. I thought we were about to see a petrosian king run and Qa4 perfect defense Out of nowhere?? No way. 9:57 You mention you should assign defense to lesser-value pieces if you can, but then why play a queen move to support the pawn push instead of rook e8?
@adamwu45653 жыл бұрын
The Q is doing more than just supporting the pawn while on e7. It has the opportunity to jump into the attack along the associated diagonals at a later point in the game in a way a Rook on e8 would not. Plus, in that position d8 can sometimes end up being a better square for the R than e8, so the Q move also vacates that square for the R to go to later if needed.
