Curious, why not just drill out the pop rivets? That's going to look so nice when the new carpet covers all of that area. Nicely done patches too, those dado joints combined with the adhesive will be strong. Lovin' this series.
@KM.130 Жыл бұрын
Use a drill with 1/8” or 3/16” bit and drill rivets out. Much easier than grinder.

Alfred, you should get about six jack stands and raise the Pontoon up a couple inches and pull the trailer out of your way. That way you could rework the trailer as well and have it all freshly painted.

Alfred love your stuff man. I have a 22ft Toon similar to your layout those front plated are for swivel seats for fishing. Just curious why you laminated the plywood instead of ripping the old off and replacing it like your supposed to? Now, it’s gained several hundred pounds and the side trim will be a pain in the ass to put back on.

Not bad progress for 1 day, if you put the camera down, you could get twice as much done. The suggestions of safety glasses and drilling out rivets, and get the trailer out of the way! Have it sand-blasted and painted. I hope you plan on replacing the entire floor and console, both rotted out! Use marine grade wood and all stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers. With no floor you could clean the pontoons and frame.

@dagger4146 Жыл бұрын
Replace the entire floor. You are this far you should take it down to the fishbone. You are throwing good money after bad by covering rotten delaminated plywood with more plywood. Now the aluminum skirting will not fit because the floor is much thicker, and your boat is getting heavier. Trust me, I learned the hard way and had to do it all over. At 64 years old and doing 100% of the work myself I do not want to make the same mistake twice.
@slange455 Жыл бұрын
Why waste your time with that old seat plate if your going to replace the floor…..replace the floor it’s all rotten more that just that corner. U put new wood over that it’s definitely to rot out. What a hack job that guys is doing floor is dirty floor underneath is going to rot out!!!!!
@themister3865 Жыл бұрын
Since the entire deck is being replaced, why bother taking the time and effort of taking off every square inch of the old carpeting? You can find where the bolts and screws are located by looking at the bottom side of the deck and only removing the carpeting that is necessary.
@themister3865 Жыл бұрын
OMG...after watching some more of the video, you are NOT replacing the entire old deck. It appears that you are patching the rotted spots and then going over it with new marine grade plywood. That should work. Now I understand why you stripped off every square inch of carpeting. Thats what I get for commenting before watching the entire video. hahah
