Hi I think the garden is doing well considering this is the first time planting in the buckets. I like that no bending is involved. Next year will be better because everything was prepared this year. I can plant earlier next year.❤️Grandpa🧑🏻‍🌾

Been away with family stuff, but just back on KZbin long enough to see Grandpa’s garden! Wow! This is a huge success!!! No weeding goal achieved! Our garden has been struggling with this three week triple digit heatwave! Tomatoes, yellow squash, and some zucchini doing the best. Green beans did not like the heat and gave up! I’ve got some genetic eye problems that have me slowed down in video watching. I have a little operation on my right eye in about six weeks. Then I will have a lot of fun catching up and copying down recipes! I also see some “going places” videos that will be a blast! Having a garden green salad every day is the best thing about gardening! Lettuce doesn’t like our soil no matter what we do to fix it up, so we do buy lettuce and spinach. Temp is headed toward 101 degrees Fahrenheit today, and we have gone as high as 117! Makes me sleepy, even inside with air conditioning! Nice to hear you are getting summer rain! Always love this channel! I think your kitty outside was deciding wether or not to try to bat at a bird or two, as they were so sweetly singing from somewhere! Blue Jays really tease our kitty colony! Little “Smudge” keeps trying to catch one!

Hi Polly Alice Grandpa is happy with the bucket garden no bending to weed. He had a late start planting this year since he had to prepare the area, buy the lumber, make the stands for the buckets and buy the buckets and soil. Next year should be better at planting early. We are sorry to hear about your heatwave affecting your garden. We have had a hot and humid summer but the temperatures felt like 100 degrees maybe twice. Otherwise it was in the high 90’s. Still hot enough that you did not feel like going outside. We also had a lot of heavy rain which helped to keep the grass green and the plants well watered. Marty she likes to follow Grandpa around. The birds were singing from our yard since we feed them everyday. The Blue Jays and Squirrels come looking for their peanuts. We will pray that all goes well with your right eye surgery. Hi I didn’t plant my garden as early as I would have liked. It took time to build the stands for the buckets plus going to buy the buckets. We only have one Tractor Supply Store and it is out east. Doing the brick work also took time. Hopefully next year I will plant earlier.❤️Grandpa🧑🏻‍🌾

Take the lower leaves off of the tomato plants. Give the plant more energy to bear fruit! 👍🏼 🍅

I have been doing container gardening for a few years. Some years good some not good results. Bell peppers I can’t get very big. Great garden you have.

Got a nice garden Granpa. To bad about your squash plant. My parents had a garden when I was growing up. Pretty cat. I have 2 cats. One is a Tuxedo dark grey and white (boy) and the other is a Snowshoe (girl) both been fixed. My girl was dumped and I took her in.

I feel bad about my squash plant. The garden was not planted as early as I wanted because of all the preparation ahead of time. Next year should be better. Marty she follows me all around. We took her in when she showed up at our front door. We don’t know if she was lost or someone may just have left her on the street. We are thrilled to hear you have two cats especially taking Snowshoe in. It is so sad how anyone can dump a cat.❤️Grandpa👩🏻

I wish I could grow tomatoes. I can grow cherry tomatoes but I haven't been able to grow anything else 😢 that and peppers too

I think using buckets to grow food is a wonderful idea. I haven't tried growing a garden because I live in a hot desert in Southern California. I think if I tried to grow some veggies or fruit in buckets though, I could move the buckets when it's too hot during the afternoons so they don't wilt from the direct sunlight. You've given me something to think about Grandpa. THANK YOU for making these videos! 😀

Hi I am very happy with the Bucket Garden. I like that I have no more bending over. You should give it a try with planting just a few buckets. I was thinking what if you had an outdoor umbrella with a stand and opened it up for shade when it’s too hot. This way you may not have to move the buckets. Looking good, always tastes better when you grow your own, my cherry tomatoes are getting ripe and I'm eating them right off the plant. Warm and juicy, just a little salt after the first nibble, yum

Hi yes the buckets drain I have five holes in the bottom of each bucket. I like the idea of not having to bend over to weed. Marty is my little buddy. She usually always follows me when I am working in the yard.❤️Grandpa🧑🏻‍🌾

I am very happy with the Bucket Garden. No bending and had two weeds to pull so far. We like tomato and lettuce sandwiches and tomatoes cutup with some pepper, oil and vinegar. So good!❤️Grandpa🧑🏻‍🌾
