My husband suddenly passed a while back and your video inspired in me the desire to start cooking again! I remember my Granny’s peach cobbler and I thought I would try it. Instead of a 9 x 13 I made four toaster oven size aluminum pans so I can share them with friends. It’s Valentine’s Day so I cut out hearts of pie dough and placed it on top of the lattice. I gave them to the neighbors who are also alone. They were super delicious and tasted just like granny used to make. Thank you so much for sharing your life’s passion and your gift and most importantly how blessed you are to still have your granny in your life. God bless her especially! I know how proud she must be that her legacy will live forever and you and your children. Thanks for the recipe I’ve already passed it on to a dozen friends

I kinda wish my granddaughter cared about watching me teach her how to cook but she doesn't want to be bothered. My 6 yr old great granddaughter wants to learn all she can and even help cook. Someday she will think back on it I hope. I loved learning all my grandmother's wanted to teach me. ..tell your granny thank you from me.

THIS IS PRICELESS FOR EVERYONE TO READ. my most fond times growing up was at my grandmothers. she always had quartered purple onions in jar ready for every meal...with corn bread, greens, collards, purple hull peas, black eyed peas, baby limas. i remember watching her make biscuits in a large old wooden biscuit bowl....using the method your grandmother used when making the crust that is PART OF YOUR PRICELESS MEMORY OF HER. i purchased a hand turned very nice biscuit bowl so i can learn this almost forgotten art. now i have a new friend that loves cooking and it excites her to know we like to share the same interest. she is 86 and she will be showing me things i never was interested in doing when younger. i also love the memory of watching my grandmother make the best christmas fruit cake ever. i can still taste it today as well as smell the batter. she also made a cherry nut cake which is a white coconut cake with cherries on top and chopped pecans. my grandfather was a tremendous at catching cat fish. oh, the memories of a wonderful grandfather. he loved family gatherings and provided all of us with his unselfish love by giving us many years of wonderful fish cook outs with the best of the best fried fish, hush puppies and tartar sauce. those were memories i shall never forget just like you with your grandmother. i once went over to my grandparents house two doors down to swing under the porch to talk and visit basically everyday. ALL OF YOU OUT THERE who are listening to me PLEASE dont be young and/or old and stupid and think your LIVING LIFE while your parents and grandparents are alive with every passing day....if you didnt spend quality time with them and love them.TEACH and REQUIRE your children and grandchildren to do this now by example.....STARTING TODAY. my grandparents are gone, my mother and father are gone. immediately after they passed...what I THOUGHT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT is no longer important...nothing is important now but them and being nice to people and expressing love. please enjoy visits with them because they will be gone and it will be like a snap moment....when you least expect it. i love and miss all those above and deeply regret those WONDERFUL DAYS are now but a memory. i cherish you for appreciating your grandmother so much. please see her twice a yr. if at all possible if she live away. also call her at least every week. im also so greatful you have a video to keep of this wonderful occasion. TO YOUR LOVING GRANDMOTHER i am walking along with you as i know how important this time is for you. we cant tell our children or grandchildren what is really in our heart to make them understand how precious we are. you see i dont have grandchildren to share this joy and fun times. i am conditioning myself for that day which wont be too many years away...you see i wont have anyone with me when i pass so that why i am so happy for you and all the other grandparents who have those to love and enjoy quality times with. Hopefully, this email has opened someones heart to give back to those who have lived yrs. before them who also passed down the benefits and memories you have today.

Thank you Dee for those kind words. I agree we have to cherish these moments we have with our parents and grandparents, for those like myself that still have living grandparents. Those are special moments when you can document your grandma's cooking and baking legacy. That is how I learned how to cook and bake when I was a young girl in the kitchen watching my grandmom cook and bake. My grandmom was from Columbia, South Carolina. I remember she would explain her methods but she pretty much just eye balled everything. So, she will tell me just taste test as you go along until you know it taste good. I miss those loving days with my grandmom in the kitchen listening to gospel music as she cook. Today, now my family and friends will be like "how do you cook like that?!!" I had an older cousin told me she didn't know I can cook like that? She told me I cook like those southern folks down south. She told me my homemade cornbread is better than her sisters!! She told everybody in church I'm a great cook. My younger cousin keeps telling me I should open my own restaurant...I will make a killin'$$$$!! I just tell everybody I learned everything from my grandmom. I owe it all to her.

This was like stepping back in time watching my own grandmother make her peach cobbler. She always said it is better with the crust on the bottom. I agree. This is how I do mine as well. That's what I'd call Peach Cobbler Perfection! At first, I was thinking it was way too juicy, although I like mine juicy, it looked a bit much. But after it had baked, oh my goodness, that's when you see the perfection. Her dough puffed up just the right amount. I guess it takes in the extra juice or maybe the juice bakes down some. Whatever way doesn't matter. It's just right. And I have to say something about her technique when making the dough. I grew up with some really great southern cooking. My mom can make the prettiest, best tasting biscuits ever & she does it like your grandmother. Even so, your granny makes my mom look like, not beginner, but an intermediate. I've NEVER seen someone handle dough like your granny. That was a joy to watch. I'm so glad you have it for your memories & I thank you for sharing it with us. 😊
