Vegeta finding his own path after pondering on it for 2 arcs, Freeza being involved in the Arc, reviving the whole saiyan-revenge schtick from GT (which, lets be honest, is the arc from GT with the most narrative potential), expanding the world building around them to connect the arcs, Beerus showing how badass he is and getting pumped up by the idea of a student, an interesting new main character with a design that is both badass and casual.... The manga is truly starting to have a life of its own away from the anime it was lagging behind on. I'm loving it! This is the kind of narrative stuff we needed in the anime, to truly make it a connected and expanding story.

This is so intriguing, I’m so glad that this arc is feeling fresh and unique. Normally Dragon ball is basically “powerful enemies evil unless Goku can convinve them otherwise”. The villains have motives but we’re never really going to be rooting for them. We normally understand but never agree of sympathise. They kind of tried it with Jiren but it was never developed - at least not yet. Granola seems more “human” as a person and less of a character because we’re seeing more of his side this is great. I like that powers are more representative of personality now. The “break the system” vibe is great for building the lore of the system and bring out conflict. The lack of inclusion is definitely an issue but I think if the story is compelling I’d rather not shoe horn people in. They’ll get their spotlight then they SHOULD get their spotlight narratively or if the narrative is built around them. I’m glad this arc seems more of an original concept then it is a “dragon ball agenda we have to fulfil”.

Remember when Whis was checking him out in the anime? Commenting on his strong build. 2. He did go toe to toe with Beerus in the movie when he raged out cuz he slapped Bulma. 3. Beerus said that technique doesn't suit us. "You think gods if destructions are going to be all calm of heart." Neh. Whis has even commented that Vegeta doesn't fit well with it he is too analytical when fighting. 4. Beerus is upset with Goku for always getting him in trouble. I think he wants Vegeta stronger to not mess things up and take care of business asap without all the backlash from the grand priest lol.

You can use these arguments to support the idea that Toriyama and Toyotaro foreshadowed this but they can also be used in the other direction. "Why hasn't Beerus mastered it". You're making the assumption that Beerus could have mastered it if he invested enough time into it. We don't know that. You're arguing that the reason that Beerus hasn't mastered it because he doesn't need too and didn't have to. That might be true, but it's also possible that Beerus didn't master simply because he couldn't ; these two things are not mutually exclusive. If you watched the anime in the tournament of power, there are instances where Beerus seems to be envious of Goku's ability to use UI. Regardless if you want to consider it as foreshadowing that's fine. I personally would consider it pretty weak foreshadowing. But that's my opinion.

That wouldn't help the story or any of the villains. For Dr Gero, it works for him to be planning things behind the scenes and biding his time to make his androids stronger. Freeza was always emperor of the universe before DBZ ever brought him up but Piccolo Daimao didn't give a shit about that while taking over earth in DB. Majin Buu already wiped out the Supreme Kais and got sealed in Earth before Freeza was even a thought, etc. For Super it took every opponent thus far to get Goku strong enough to be on Zamasu's radar and make him angry for his plan, etc.

Herms and Cypher on Twitter, translated a few things in the V-Jump Issue. There was a preview for the next chapter and a Q/A from Toyatoro. A couple things from the interview: Granola is a Toyatoro design. Toyatoro was going for a Bounty Hunter vibe with a humanoid appearance!(I still think it's a recycled Kintoki design from Toriyamas one shot manga) Toyatoro wants us to focus on Granola as well as the Heata group. He promises a "special connection" to a certain character will be revealed! (I hope its not the obvious Bardock reference) As for the plot and manuscript. Toriyama composed and refined some of the plot based on old ideas. Toyatoro believes it to be super interesting and cool! There are some "cool and original background information" from the original creator himself!

Ultra instinct is the peak of martial arts and is used by Angels who are the strongest beings in the universe. What else is there to know that can surpass it? Theres clearly a hierarchy among gods. I feel like Vegeta at some point will beg Beerus to train him, in all seriousness, and Beerus will comply for the first time since he knows Vegeta doesn't have that lazy behavior that Goku shows. Beerus could get a very deep character development after having his first pupil. Imagine, Beerus was proud of Goku during the ToP when he finally reached UI. Now, this would be Vegeta's counter part to that same scene, but to a closer degree. I'd love to see Beerus take Vegeta to a secret training place were they would spar non-stop, also allowing a chance of seeing Beerus with a different fighting attire for the first time.

An interesting this is how much they drive the point that Granola is hot headed in this chapter, right after Beerus said that the gods of destructions "way" of getting stronger is opposite (or at least different) to "keep your heart calm and tranquil" so i wonder if somehow Granola won't get that kind of power And it would draw a nice parallel with the previous arc where moro ended up obtaining angels like powers and goku had to use ultra instinct , and angel technique to defeat him Maybe this is the Vegeta fan in me talking but Vegeta achieving that god of destruction type of power and defeating Granola who also would use the same kind of strenght would be pretty cool.

Granolah seems like a replacement of old school vegeta. Frieza killed his people, he wants to rush headfirst to get revenge but like vegeta on namek, he wants to get more power first. This chapter to me was super interesting and awesome, that mention of more powers/techniques/forms for Vegeta is very appealing, the backstory of Granola too and these new characters as well. And I also liked Goku's MUI training with Whis it was very nice to see cuz they haven't really trained (on screen/visually) since they did in the gravity chamber training for the t.o.p.. Just can't wait until things start getting intense and we see more of Frieza and others too hopefully.

So this arc intro basically shows that oracle fish is predicting that the strongest warrior is rising. You have heater gang with 7-3, Granolha and his revenge for Freeza, Goku training up towards a higher mastery of Ultra Instinct and Vegeta learning from Beerus other Godly Techniques. So 4 potential strongest fighters of the universe.

Nice review Geekdom, I really enjoy the expansion of the Lore in this chapter. It was also nice the story focus on someone else outside of Goku and Vegeta. Also something that I’m glad to see,Toriyama & Toyotaro writing into the story. Is explanations, as to why these new characters weren’t sense as strong candidates for the Tournament of Power. Broly: Didn’t start getting strong to a god level, until his fight with Vegita. Moro: Took over 10 Million years, for him to re-gather enough ki to break out of prison and compete against Goku & Vegita. Granolah: Is stated not to be on the same level as Freeza’s new power. Thus must find a way to get to of God level strength, before seeking him out. I was so concerned, they would have new characters show up with powers equal to or greater then the ones with TOP. With very little to no explanation, as to why they weren’t seeked out for to help. Glad that’s not the case.

Granolah needs a companion type character, I don’t want him to just disappear after this arc. He gives me mandalorian vibes for sure, so I would want there to be a Dieter or a baby yoda that eventually accompanies him, to keep him from going off the deep end on some Zamasu shit. I think the robot in his eyepatch is pretty dope, but I want him to have a specific side character to relay thoughts and ideas to. A character with a revenge or greed plot needs to always have their feelings expressed so we always know how this journey for power is affecting him and his last loved one. That’s just me though 🙏🏾

Keep in mind everyone, Toriotaro made the moro arc alone with little guidance from toriyama. But now toriyama is helping toriotaro with this arc! So expect some big things with this dynamic duo! And this far with my own opinion, im liking the build of for Granolah and Oatmeal. This is giving me broly vibes with how broly was the technical "main star" in the movie and sense this arc is "Granolah, The Survivor". I think we are gonna stay focused on Granolah and see how he beats frieza them he targets the reamining saiyans do to frieza informing him of goku and vegeta and Granolah may inform the Heaters and they all go after Goku and Vegeta after obtaining new power! This is going to be really interesting to see how Granolah is going to be! Hes such an interesting and wholesome boi! Even though hes a mercenary/assassin (Probably just a Mercenary). He just wants revenge and its understandable and great character building to have someone not just target goku and vegeta with no reason. Granolah wants frieza dead do to ordering the saiyans to destroy Planet Ceral. Its still great to see this would grow with the help of Toriyama!

This was a rather good change of pace, we got a relatively small scene with Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis. This chapter is heavily centered around Granolah and his backstory that explains his motives. Granolah being a "sniper fighter" reminds me of the ones from Universe 2, the right eye thing is interesting, and the Cerealian name is gonna take some getting used to (pronouncing and all). That one guy Soshiru character that attempted to rob Granolah reminds me of Kikono (the short yellow alien) from the Broly movie. Also Elec and his gang remind me of the Demon Realm characters from Heroes. And yes, I immediately got the naming puns for these new characters.
