This young man can swing the hell out of a axe

Good chops. Also not just swinging without being precise. You did very well

My favorite video of yours. Always looked at limbing as a boring tenuous activity but you’ve inspired me to have another look at it. Would you do a limbing comparison video with your montreal and the ochsenkopfs (1000g & 800g)?

Just subbed think I’ve got the same axe as you was my dads says ox-head made in Germany on it with a pic of a bulls head I’ve got yellow handle tho really want a double bit might get the ochsenkoph model Canada not sure if it has 2 different bevel angles

i have one and can confirm both sides are the same. they're lovely if you put them on a 28-30" handle

Nice swing

Nice work. I need to get better at limbing with an axe. Limbing with a full size chainsaw isn’t particularly enjoyable.

I've been putting off limbing the rest of this tree for the same reason haha. That husqy weighs almost 6kg and it's humid as balls here atm

I hear ya. Been right around 90 deg F here past several days. My saw is an ms362cm so very much same class as yours. I love running a chainsaw when it’s cool outside but even then limbing isn’t my favorite. Have a few dead trees I need to drop and a handful of others I dropped previously that need processed. So hard to get motivated when it’s hot. Cordwood challenge is on temporary hiatus.

@@nateb8245 I've just done a bit more tonight. Slowly logging it all up and burning the branches as I go. Also testing a new handle for my boys axe as mine snapped yesterday haha

Don't forget to film some of your cordwood progress! Eager to see more people post their cutting

www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/2019-axe-cordwood-challenge.328478/page-8 I’m JW51 in this thread. Will try to post a video soon. It will be lame at best...never done that before.

Limb it. Limb it good.

I totally agree with you about one handed axe use. But I agree with Ben about that little Gransfors; it’s a toy.

It manages alright for its size. Anything on a longer handle with a decent grind will outperform it however.

Which makes you wonder why it’s so friggin’ popular then. I mean I’d take Cold Steel’s Trail Boss over that any day. Now if you put that head on a 25” handle- that’s a different story.

i dont usually comment on this because i thoroughly enjoy natural selection... but please consider wearing boots or chaps when limbing like this. seen it many times over where im at where people hit the limb at exactly the wrong way and it sinks into their foot/shin leaving the rest of their day spent in the hospital. again, do as you will no judgement here. just hate to see it happen to people who are out there enjoying life.
