When I was a kid, maybe 10-11 years old, I had a conversation with my mom, sitting in the car in our driveway. It was dark out, we'd just come home from something and I don't remember exactly what prompted the conversation, but we were talking about sexuality. There was a lull in the conversation, and I remember staring at the dashboard, just mulling things over, before turning to my mom, and saying, utterly serious: "But...like, bi people. How do they do it? It must be so exhausting." My mom, simultaneously perplexed and trying not to laugh, "What do you mean, sweetie?" Me: "Liking everyone, boys and girls, all the time. It just sounds like it would be so tiring. And confusing." Mom: "Oh no, sweetie. Bi people don't have to like everyone, all the time. They just don't mind if the person they like is a boy or a girl. Just like...well, you don't have a crush on every boy you meet, do you?" Me [emphatically]: No! Me: But it still sounds like a lot. Cut to nearly twenty years later--You're absolutely right, Mom, I don't like everyone all the time, but so was I, being bi is still exhausting!

I am a bi male but mostky attracted to women. One woukd think that I don't have this problem, but I do have to explain every time when I tell one of my girl friends that some guy is cute and then I have to remain them. It js exhausting.
