Grant Lakes from Ten Lakes trailhead Yosemite Backpacking

Backpacking from the Ten Lakes trailhead to Grant Lakes and Ten Lakes Pass August 2022.
last year Roxana hurt her knee part way up this trail so we stayed where we were for 3 nights and she recovered enough to limp out and ended up needing surgery. This year we went back and it was spectacular.

Wow, great hiking trip Thorn. That campsite was amazing by the lake. Yeah, I think fishing in that lake would be fantastic. Good on you and Roxana for tackling this trail again. Some serious terrain there, easy to see how one could injure themself. Great job guys!!

glad you like it we were so happy to return Victorious!! definitely need to be careful off trail, very slow going but worth it... good chance we'll be back, easy to get the permit and this trail had a bit of everything that makes Yosemite special...

glad you like it! was so nice in the water, most lakes up here are really cold but this one was not bad/ august is a good time in Yosemite

1:37 would you be able to tell us approximately where you went off trail here? Also, would like to know any potential campsites in both lower and upper grant lakes. Hope Roxanna is doing great 😊

upper grant lakes does not have very good camping, and is a tough hike: i recommend camping at lower grant lake and leaving your gear there/ obviously secure your food in your bear can/ camping around lower grant lake is fantastic, just walk around and check them all out and pick one there are many good sites... as for where we went off trail: examine the map closely. you will see where you would go up and eventually loop down. Just short cut straight across. If you look carefully you'll find an easy path leading you the right way. Park service workers fought a fire in the area some time ago and sort of made a trail that takes you in the right direction. When you look closely at the map you will see you the trail makes an upside down U, you short cut it. use caltopo for the best details, youll find it.
