I want to thank you so much for your courses. In a little more than a week, I went from struggling to model a simple chair to modeling a very cool looking hunting knife and improvising my own spaceship. Thank you for teaching so much in a few short videos. You really helped me getting started in Blender.

When I started filling to close the shape it quickly became a nightmarish mess of n-gons. This was the perfect opportunity for me to practice reducing the geometry to quads, which I mostly succeeded at. Googled "topology guide" and found some helpful figures showing various n-gon transitions. These very very helpful. This was a great exercise! I still need to get better at handling the geometry when you do an insert in a quad and then start adding proximity loops to a structure in the inset.

this was fun to follow. one thing that threw me off was how you were able to access geometry on the over side of the mirror with the mirror still live and un-applied 19:00 edit: nvm i figured it out, i was trying to cut a hole through the side of the ship, across the mirror, as opposed to you cutting a hole from top to bottom, so you selected top and bottom loops, instead of loops across the mirror.

One thing I found useful: turn on auto-merge, turn on snaping by verts and start extruding things when filling in holes or extruding along an axis to make things even.
@haunteddiary154 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad that they finally added the auto-merge button back into Blender, it was a pain trying to find it in the properties panel! Also, love that you can now select a single edge and hit F and if it can it will fill an adjacent space, really speeds things up.

No idea about the fill thing to be honest. But how about another inset shortcut? Ever selected multiple faces in a row, pressed "i" and got one big inset but wanted each face to have its own inset? Easypeasy! Just press "i" a second time while creating an inset, and it will toggle individual insetting on and off.

thats what its supposed to do the on cage is a representation to make them easier to see

@@grabbitt Sure. However, a possibility to control those on cage verts through snapping would be a really important one for architects and designers who very often require full precision when doing freeforms.

Hi, could you do me a favor? I spent hours today trying to close the Multiview windows in blender. You know, you pull them down from the corners when a cross appears. The more I tried the more windows appeared. I wonder if there is an internal command to get back to the main windiow without any of the extra windows and without losing your work? I do know about setting up your main layout, but if you use that, do you lose the work you have just done. If I do a back up with all those windows on my screen, they'll just be there when I open the project again. Is it possible to get a video about this?
@haunteddiary154 жыл бұрын
Right click anywhere on the the edge between the two windows (you know when you're in the right place because the cursor will change to a double arrow) and select join areas, you then get a big arrow and by moving back and forth between the two windows you can choose which merges into which.
@danfedorchuk82194 жыл бұрын
@@haunteddiary15 Ya, I've done that when it allows. there are two messages that comes up, one that allows you to join areas and the other doesn't, has some other functions. But that is what eventually helped me to get my screen back to normal. I was hoping there was some command in say preferences that I could just go to and remove all the extra view ports and get on with the actual work at hand. thanks for the help.
