You should check out the Kaguya-sama Love is War manga by Aka Akasaka. It's both a romantic slice of life and battle comedy. Also recommend Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei.

Rumiko Takahashi's Maison Ikkoku is being re-printed right now after being out of print for several years. It's a cute little love story set in 1980s Japan (the period in which Takahashi herself was authoring the series). Not only is it cute, sweet, & funny, but it's also a neat little window into 1980s Japanese culture. It's one of my faves. They don't call Takahashi the Queen of Manga for nothing, you know?!

This video has perfect timing! My son is 15 months old and the only way I can get through a novel is through audio. I’ve really been getting into manga and graphic novels recently, they’re short and sweet. Thanks for the recommendations!

Yes! Giant Days is so overlooked. Brian K. Vaughan, Rick Remender, and Jeff Lemire are my top 3. I will read anything they put out. Haven't been let down yet. A lot of their stories are for adults - in the sense that maybe only adults should read it, and other books that are ok for all ages but adults would get more out of them. Check out Brian K. Vaughan's Runaways series. It's so good. Rainbow Rowell is doing the series now and she's really nailing it. Check out Black Science and Deadly Class by Rick Remender, so good but very adult.

CHEW is a masterpiece. I would recommend: Skullkickers (Ation/Fantasy). Wayward (Magic/Adventure/Coming of Age). Irredeemable (Superhero/Dark). Black Science (Science Fiction/Adventure.). Birthright (Fantasy/Adventure). Sex Criminals (Comedy/Drama/Weird). Nailbiter (Thriller/Detective). Manhattan Projects (Science Fiction). Five Ghosts (Fantasy/Action/Adventure). Ghosted (Supernatural/Adventure).

Manga recommendation? Hmmm • Horror: Anything by Junji Ito (kinda basic answer lol) • A Silent Voice (coming of age, drama, bullying, deaf) • Blank Canvas (semi-?autobiographical story of how the mangaka joined the industry. An appreciation letter to her previous teacher and love letter to art) • Goodnight Punpun (coming of age story with domestic violence, depression, and sense of existential dread that sure gonna shake your existence) • Solanin (being young should offer so many options but real world doesn't let you do everything easily... just floating won't get you anywhere. Another coming of age with existential dread) • Gods lie (Adults have so much power in children's life. They look so... absolute almost like gods but even gods lie. A journey of 2 kids to stand on their own disillusioned by the true world of adults) • Witch Hat Atelier (a fantasy series for those who love the magic system the most in fantasy series) • The Ancient Magus' Bride (and that love letter to fantasy genre for people who prefer world building!) • House of the Sun (A family drama first, then a romance one. Family is something not every one can have. A house they can call home. So 2 lonely people made their makeshift family and their interactions rekindled their ties with their own real family)

Great video! It's kinda weird to talk comics and manga here, but I would like to recommend some. Manga: Horror: Tomie [Junji Ito], Chi no wadachi [Shuzo Oshimi] Action: Fullmetal Alchemist [Hiromu Arakawa], Blade of the Immortal [Hiroaki Samura] Family friendly: Yotsuba&! [Kiyohiko Azuma] Some unfinished stuff that are great, imo: C.A.T. (Confidential Assassination Troop) [Fung Chin Pang], Zombie Powder [Kubo Tite] And for graphic novels, everything Hellboy [Mike Mignola]. Take care!! 🙃

I would recommend Pandora Hearts for manga. It‘s so good but underrated. I wished more people would read it. I love the artstyle and the story just keeps on surprising you. It‘s also completed so no waiting.

Gakeun Babysitters I am currently reading it the third time (I discovered it 4 months back) It's about a 16 yr old boy and his baby brother, who after being orphaned are taken in by a chairwoman of a school. The protagonist now has to work in the day care centre of the school, where the teachers' children spend their day. It's a shoujo, although the protagonist is male. It doesn't have any established romance. It's like a sitcom, where chapters are pretty standalone, so you can read it in any order. And it's Laugh Out Loud funny. (In my opinion)

I love Fruits Basket, is one of my favourites (i have 8 of the 26 mangas published, still want to have all of them). I would just alter your synopsis with a family cursed with some members being possess by the animals of the chinese zodiac, just because there are some females in that family who are cursed (the boar, the tiger, the horse). I will always be team Kyo (the cat). Also loved Ouran High School Host Club, read the manga and also watched the anime. Too funny.
@IasminaEdina3 жыл бұрын
It's been a few years since I read them so my memory of the story might be a little off so thanks for pointing out the right synopsis 😊 I should really continue with both Fruits Basket and Ouran, I enjoyed the first volumes so much.

When I learnt Persepolis had a second part, I rushed to get it. Then I opened the book and realized I had already read it. It turned out the book I read was "The Complete Persepolis". it was for an honors class in which we read a number of banned books.
