I bought and read all three volumes of Avant-Guards because of your rec in a different video. It's so great. They aren't just in college they're in an ART college. ‘Check please’ reminds me a lot of the graphic novel ‘Bloom’ by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau, as well as the non-graphic novel ‘Lose you to find me’ by Erik J Brown, might have to give it a try now, gotta love culinary queer fiction hehe ! LYTFM is such a beautiful story, despite being a little sad at times, definitely a queer fiction recommendation of mine if you’re looking for something aside from graphic novels and comics, I would loooove to see it made into a graphic novel though !

I read the first volumes of Heavy Vinyl and Avant-Guards recently and adored them. Bingo Love was one of my favourite reads of 2020! I read it early in the first lockdown and it brought so much joy for me. Paper Girls didn't grip me with the first volume, but the way you talk about them makes me want to try again. Check Please! is the only one of your recs I haven't read yet... but it gives me Fence vibes (also a queer sports story but set in high school). I also just read Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer and it was absolutely fantastic! I love how you showed some of the artwork with the slow panning of the camera - much appreciated!

Also, if you've never seen the 90s teen movie "Empire Records," your explanation of the time period and where they work at reminds me of the movie

Love Paper Girls!!!! I will be continuing with it when I buy the rest of the volumes. Yes, there's a homophobic reference and the art is fantastic! I think for me why I get what's possibly going on is first it's in the 80's and I was a child, but I still understood a lot of those references to the movies, government, and the disaster that happened in that era. Second it's sci-fi and some of it may harken back to old B movies even before the 80's. All in all it's a definite fun read...lol...I didn't have music playing, but I thought of them listening to Take On Me by A-ha or I Ran (So far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls. Thank you for these recommendations and from other videos because of you I have Paper Girls, will be reading next month I Hate Fairyland, and maybe in June will be reading Promised Neverland. You have just opened up a new genre for me that I occasionally gravitate to and now want to read more of
