Ok, good job mate. Been watching and learning from u for awhile now. Mostly opencpn that i have gotten good at. I sail over here in the FL keys and going futher south next spring. Have tried using qtvlm and like it, but keep going back to opencpn. I think qtvlm is very powerful for sailors. Do i want to learn it and dump opencpn??? Big question. The ascat looks awesome. I have acomplete icom 802 rig with a pactor modem on my double-ender and can get saildocs noaa weather charts emailed to me anywhere on earth. Can i download ascat files offshore with my pactor modem? Its been a year since i touched qtvlm. You seem to have gone hog heaven into that program from the amount of vids u do. Again thx for the knowledge mate. U should have way more follows in my opion. These new guys put the damn chartplotter on and say Lets GO. Sailed in u neck of the woods in the 90's all thru there. Wooden Boat Festival . Nothing compares. Met Brian Toss several times and learned fromhim. Good ole days

Thanks for your kind words. OpenCPN has a simpler interface than qtVlm, and if its functions meet your needs then that should work fine. qtVlm has more functionality, but not everyone needs the special functions. By the way, OpenCPN does include single click ASCAT downloads we prepared for them in the wx_fax plug in, the last time I looked, but at that time I could not find our ASCAT indexes that make their use very much easier. The reference is www.starpath.com/ascat. Which also explains how you can request these images from Saildocs using your Pactor modem.
