Another way to find the intercepts is to plug numbers for x(input) and get the y value(output) for the given equation. Therefore, getting a coordinate on the graph. For ex: if you plugged 1 for x into the given equation y = 2x your y value is 2, therefore, your coordinate is (1,2). Now plot it on your graph as one of your coordinate points.

I live in Brunswick and I've heard the Jacksonville has a crappy school system, but this taught me more than my teacher today. Maybe I'll be the only one with my homework done, haha! I know your question is from 3 years ago, but if someone is scrolling through the comments and read your question.. I guess the answer is that if have |bx + h| --> bx + h = 0 --> negative number |-bx + h| --> -bx + h = 0 --> positive number
