Legendary ne-waza by brazilian Flavio Canto, black belt in jiu-jitsu as well. He even got a signature move: "Canto Choke". Congratulations for the amazing compilation, my friend! I get inspired by your channel! 💪🏼🥋

Eu me inspiro no seu canal! 💪🏼🥋

I love it! I used to fight Travis Stevens when we were kids! Haha! You should have the choke from the olympics when he choked Tchriskishvili. As usual these videos are amazing!

Is that 1981. WC footage all that's left of Kashiwazaki's matches? I'd sure like to see more of the newaza master in his competitive form.
@GrapplerKingdom4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately only a very small portion of footage is left of many great masters from the past, including Kashiwazaki. The best I could offer you is this old highlight video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoqkhHWsdrOBitE

It's a good clip as usual But you should have added Karen Briggs Cuz she was one of the best newaza masters in the 80s I think Jimmy Pedro is one of the best in the 90s Slovenian Urška Žolnir was very outstanding at Juji These days Japanese girls are renowned for their Newaza But they were very weak on the ground compared to Tachiwaza until mid 80s Hence,then national team head coach Yanagisawa made them practice their pinning techniques Thoroughly and repetitively So that they could compete on the ground with the europeans, many of whom were good at submissions Besides Yoko Tanabe and Fumiko Esaki you mentioned,olympic medalists such as Chiyori Tateno,Noriko Mizoguchi and Noriko Narasaki were extraordinary good at pinning I'm pretty sure they were obviously better at pinning than Kaori Matsumoto Ueno sisters Masae and Yoshie could have rivaled them Matsumoto was defeated on the ground serveral times by Megumi Ishikawa who was Matsumoto's junior At their university Though Ishikawa didn't get a lot of attention from anyone but IJF commentator Sheldon Obviously, Yoshio Nakamura was the best Japanese male newaza player in the 90s His newaza was at once an orthodox and an unorthodox He was even better than his younger brother Kenzo Even his rival Hidehiko Yoshida was so afraid of his Newaza Toshihiko Koga's domestic rival Hideyuki Sakai was also as good as Kenzo But he didn't have outstanding track record in international competitions So he didn't get the attention of the world

Thanks as always for watching and sharing interesting info, it's a shame that there isn't much video footage left from the matches of some of the names you mentioned.
@ArpMadore14 жыл бұрын
There are certainly not a lot of old videos on youtube I hope someone will upload them for us By the way,Sakai was renowned for Sakai-Gaeshi(which is called Yoko-Gaeshi in Kosen, Some Europeans say Sugoi Roll) he was a newaza coach for men's and Women's national team until 2012 He's been coaching Shori Hamada since 2013 and Saki Niizoe since 2019
