i loved the opiated Jerry. Mezmerizing times as i was opiated too. literally standing and rocking in place all show long. like weebles!!! remember them? that was us in nyc and long island. the dope was clean then, just straight up china white powder, no fentanly or other pharmeceuticals added, just sniff and go....no needles needed.

Because all heads view Jerry as a family member, it was tough for a lot of folks to see or listen to the Dead in 1985. Even his bandmates tried to get him healthy by giving him an ultimateum. As much as I love the intensity of the shows, to put it mildly, Jerry was not taking care of himself. Yeah the shows were fucking amazing. Thank you guys for giving us what we got, we were lucky.

This was slightly before my time, so I still don;t know why people didn;t like day job. It's a good rock and roll number I always enjoy.

yeah, it's on one of my fav shows, hershey 85. I think it was more so about the lack of room for improv, plus, not many touring heads "mid 80's smaller lots, pre touch, more family" prolly related to the idea of keeping your day job...But it's kinda like i fought the law.. the best you could really hope for was jerry not forgetting the lines, no real flexing like a deal, might as well, etc. Plus, being a new song they prolly would play it every couple of nights to try and break it in, so for somebody on tour it doesn't leave a lot to look forward to. Also, short. As my dad said and most non heads kinda concur on is , "I like the dead, but all their songs seem like twice as long as they should be."

How is it that people trash 1985? I am pretty sure i only missed a total of 7 shows the whole year and only 1 nassau coliseum show in the spring was weak. What is it that these '85 haters see and hear that almost all of my friends did not see and hear?

John Frank Sorry bro my intention was not to freak you out. Nassau County is out on long island new york and The Grateful Dead played at the Nassau county civic center for years even after the DEA busted a bunch of people in'81.
