Not sure why so many folks think this show is underrated...I and most Heads I know have long had this second set very high on our list of best of '77. The Playin'-COmes a Time-Playing' is perhaps the highlight of the tour IMHO. I was at this run of shows, and others on this great tour, the boys had dialled in the Palladium sound by this last show, Phil was bouncing bombs off the walls, everything was just perfect!

​@hammondOT jerry HEARD it and responded.....since it's my belief that garcia took china cat out of the rotation in the first place and he didn't play china cat again till 12/29/77 and then fully in the rotation again til '79.....I question whether or not he "liked" it.......I believe some crowd person(cute girl bobby wants to impress) requests it and bobby does what he can to accommodate.......

back in ye olde analog days this here tape was among the many we never found, all the palladium shows eluded my collecting so now after all these years to have available so easily i guess i must admit i'm livin the steve jobs dream but i doubt the next generation gets any of that phil's bounce on scarlet is dyno-mite as it would be the next day in new haven thanks for posting the whole show

@@eggman615 like a lot of the ballads Jerry played, the lyrics really seemed to speak to him and he elevated his playing to the occasion. It reminds me of something he once said about how he's simultaneously very confident and very pessimistic. The ballads were like a view of that vulnerable human side. Just my impression I could be wrong

This is a very interesting fire in terms of development also...... in my opinion, phil plays tonight's fire very loose with his low octave sloppy finish(which I enjoy)which doesn't really happen in tomorrow(5/5).....micky takes control tomorrow with the cowbell.....listen and compare the two

I'm fucking with this show heavy. It doesn't get talked about much compared to the following four or five dates. Only skips for me are Minglewood (the worst song in the repertoire) and Roses (an always skip for me, too much of a drag). Love how loud Phil is and Donna is hitting all the right spots. I appreciate this channel.
