I played this song for a great old friend very dear kind man.. as he lay the night before he passed.. I placed my phone next to him.. w music he liked.. a true Hippie, had two nice parties and played music.. i brought the animals.. gave him a kiss on the cheek that night and he gave a sweet little smile.. 💖🤍💙💜

This concert just grooves. I have always loved Eyes ever since I have listened to The Dead. A beautiful piece of artwork with gorgeous guitar work played live by Garcia and just have to dig the vocals as well.

To be quite honest he could play jazz very well as he did soloing in that area quite frequently. The Dead combined folk, rock and jazz so well that they did it very successfully.

Was at a gas station with a car load of friends, another car pulls up a guy walks over to me says hey I got this extra Dead ticket 🎫 want to go to a dead concert with me ? Yup u bet ! 😂hopped right in and away we went from Dover Delaware to Jersey this night this concert! Best concert people , smoke and everything else ! 😂A great guy my age 19 who was absolutely a beautiful guy ! I never ever forget that young man’s kindness 💀🥰☮️

The thing that I've always said about the Grateful Dead that I found most amazing about them is that there is 7 people, all high on an assortment of drugs, can perform together as a band on stage in front of 10,000 people and not only keep it together but _entertain_ their audience.

Definitely on the Eyes Mt. Rushmore. From about 1:05 to 1:20, Jerry and Phil are both soloing side-by-side. One of the only bands where the the lead guitar and bass player are both simultaneously playing lead. Perfection. Also the sort of chill few seconds before the first verse. Just the epitome of smooth.

You're not gonna like this comment. Jerry was smart and powerful enough to lead the other GD members into dedicating their own spirits and musical aspirations into the fulfillment of HIS dream. For better or worse, let's call it what it was. Jerry needed the drugs to deal with his own demons and misgivings about the way the whole thing was going down. Finding out that you have the power and ability to realize your dreams is often bittersweet, or fundamentally upsetting. Wish it weren't so, but...

it was way more complicated than that . it was 5 musicians who needed each other to play the type of music that they wanted to play .All outstanding to great on the instrument they played . Yep jerry was the leader as there is one in a lot of bands , a worthy one i mite add .they liked the bus ride they were on or could have got off at any fuel stop .you dont know why Jerry needed drugs .

donna is always great doing harmonies with jerry, it's more with bobby that i think things get weird. but then again, i always thought it was sort of ridiculous for people to be ragging on donna in a band where they let fucking phil sing. i love phil but his voice is atrocious. part of the charm, same with donna's wailing lol

they're two different things imo. the verses work better at a lower tempo, but the jams reach such incredible peaks when it's fast like this. i'm also not a big Mickey fan overall, and this is one of the few tracks that i think he really adds to.

Nobody plays with as much soul. Real soul. No personal riffs like s lot of guitarist. Every time was different. I do like a couple parts here. When Jerry and Phil asking to each other in the beginning. Jerry's jam in the middle tickles my ear.....it is 77 and cocaine and Donna. But first time seeing this one. There are a couple bad spots tho I give you that
