I recall this show as one of the best I saw in almost 250 shows. Drove down from New York solo, had a coupla fatties with me, and purchased some chocolates in the lot. Great example of the band at their best in the post-Brent era. Amazing post-space segment. Jerry played exceedently well this night. So happy 20+ years later I took that ride down to Charlotte !! God was with me !!

SWAllen420 I was at this show too and I particularly remember the rarity of Phil singing lead on a song ...Tom Thomb's Blues @ 33:00, followed by a SEARING Let It Grow @ 38:30 to close the first set and a beautiful Looks Like Rain in the second set. I have/had only seen a handful of the shows in NC but I particularly remember walking out of the coliseum thinking how much Jerry had been on fire all night long and remember it to this day. So happy 20 + years later to hear the show again and to read your review which confirms I was actually not hallucinating when I witnessed the roof of Charlotte Coliseum being torn off the place that night. Happy you got to see it too, friend.

We were BLESSED!!! This was my 4th show, and my brother's first show! It was sooo appropriate that they opened with 'Stranger'!!!! My brother was home for the first time, and I felt so happy to see him experience that whole Dead thang!! ;)

I lived in Charlotte at the time but did not get to go to either of the shows. I have kicked myself for it many times since. Thanks for posting and letting us, the other ones, enjoy the show too!

Everything out of space is crushing. Totally intense and loud and that Satisfaction is the best one. Those midi oboe notes at the end are the deepest notes ever heard out of a guitar. bravo. I really needed this thanks. Great first set- great Althea. Gorgeous Let it Grow

Had a great time here, pretty much the end of my touring days. Saw a bunch of nice shows in NC around this time. Nice people, always a fun vibe. During Eyes, you can hear Jerry or someone exclaim "Yes!" during a chorus. The boys were having as much fun as the fans.

After much research I have come to the conclusion that this is the last show that Jerry gave a a shit about. It's a very defining line from his playing this night and his playing and energy forever after. Any comments regarding my opinion would be welcome

Of course there were many stellar shows and moments after Charlotte here in'92. What I'm trying to get at is after this night there was a major shift in Jerry's attitude and enjoyment and it was from here that he put less and less of himself into the music

I totally agree with you that having no Hornsby to play off of was a big reason. Listening to'91 he had so much fun with Bruce in the band

A lot of early/mid 93 is pretty inspired, after that is questionable (You have to hunt for good shows). That's my personal opinion.

Got searched at this show by 2 black guys selling doughnuts! Haha! We just dropped our hits & blazed our weed! Had a bong still on board that these brothas flipped on! Couldnt find weed that we had just smoked & tripping our eyeballs out! Hommies told us we were first to slip it by them & let us go! One of the sickest shows I ever saw!

The fuck? Did you listen to this show? You know how good, how musically sophisticated he is playing? You people- you say sub mean shit and call yourself heads. I heard almost everything a have every single soundboard from every show the band has and straight up- he was astonishing every single year. His vocals and playing were more and more musically advanced. Don't call yourself a head if you're going to pick out one song here and totally skip the real beauty of the first set. That Althea is seriously prime, the Peggy-o is wonderful, the let it grow jams are outstanding. Shame on you.
