How great it is that we can watch any Grateful Dead song performed at every concert that's on KZbin and see how it changes over the years. What fun!

These were the beginnings of the last "happy years" for the band. Jerry was in good health, relatively speaking, everyone was getting along, the midi and the bust out of "Dark Star" and "Help Slip" still lay ahead. Sadly by '92 or so everything went back downhill... I feel nothing short of honored and lucky to have seen them 85 times during those years. I'll *always* love and miss you, Jerry.

Jerry, Bob, Phil, Mickey, Bill and Brent were at one of their peaks in 1987. The shows were really fun, and it was a great escape from the toils of everyday life. I miss the band playing live, this is the next best thing :) Aiko-Aiko all day!

The best GD song is the first one you recognize!! Saw them 3 times, never heard 1 that I knew from the radio and wasn't impressed. Then I learned about music..........AND THAT FAT MAN CAN PLAY!
@paulamorgan20198 жыл бұрын
I'm just learning about the music and kick myself in the ass that I didn't know more about it back in the day. But it's OK. My ol' man plays guitar and has taught me so much. It's fun to go back and watch this stuff again, knowing more about music and having him next to me to show me things I ask about. And that show was the first time I ever saw the bumper and window stickers saying "The Fat Man Rocks!" I loved that!

this is one of those songs (for me) where Phil's base stands out nicely.. I think many times people (not many Deadheads) kind of leave Phil out of the picture- always concentrating on Jerry (of course) and Bob... The drums and Phil's base, are the foundation that the rest of the music is built upon. Also- out of all the keyboardist's they had, hands down Brent was the best. Best playing, best voice and added SO much to the band....
@billbeliakoff55894 жыл бұрын
I always try to concentrate on Phil and Bobby. But there are times when Jerry makes my jaw drop.

My friends and I always had a little game we played of whether from the first notes the song was going to be Aiko Aiko or Women are Smarter lol. But seriously it is just impossible to not be happy hearing/seeing this. Ooh and Jer’s looking happy, Bobby’s rocking some goofy Marylin Monroe shirt, my man Brent goin crazy, Phil’s dropping bombs as usual, Billy and Mickey are like the right and left arms of the same body, all the wonderful people in the crowd, damn it doesn’t get better than The Boys!!

Brent was a very Strong member of the Band, I think especially during 87 Tour. Just a couple of years before this I saw Brent and Bill do a little side tour calling it Go Ahead coming thru New Haven at Toads Place right next to Yale Campus. Where there any other Heads there and what do you remember. That was the 1st and only time every meeting Bill and Brent. In the hallway on way to mens room downstairs.
