"From the final night of the Dylan & the Dead Tour, this wonderful Terrapin Station shows that after a long tour that started at Alpine exactly a month earlier, the Dead could always rise to the occasion of a stadium filled with hungry Dead Heads, this one in Orange County. Spending a day with Disney, Dylan and the Dead sounds pretty darn great." - David Lemieux

I was there and remember a hot summer;s day with an amazing Shakedown Street in the Angels parking lot. Police were surprised at the Dead community, but once the music started Jerry and Co. were in top form. I believe Dylan's set was okay, rather unspectacular, I was hoping for some "Dead magic" as they were together but not much stood out from his input. Great vibe always at a summer Dead show, Thanks Dave!

Hi Dave, just wanted to know about the GratefulDeadPodcast that we had gotten accustomed to expect on Thursdays. Is it me or haven't there been any podcasts of late. It's a really really wonderfully put together program and I really really 💜🎶 it..... Just wanted to mention in particular that just so good specially designed for Mr.Mckernan episode.Lots of stuff we learned about Pigpen that was just so cool. AND what I appreciated was there no mention of much,if not any at all of his love life🔼 Ms.Joplin... I thought it was admirable & classy to not even dedicate one sentence to that topic that I & most of your listeners probably expected... hope to be on lookout for next podcast. Maybe tomorrow⁉️. Happy New Year Everyone ❗

Same. As I get older, it only resonates more and deeper. Joy, loss, the inability to really know anything...it's all in here for me. The prayer for inspiration is one of the purest lyrics I can think of. The fervent hope that something can hold away despair -- I'm tearing up just thinking about what those words have meant to me.

The shot of the little baby with ear plugs in touched my heart. As a dad of 4 kids, all of whom love, appreciate and write music and poetry, it was one of my great pleasures to introduce my kids to The Dead. It still is one of my great joys to listen with them and watch them close their eyes, open their hearts and get lost in the music together. That's what it's all about.

The nearest clapping hands visible at 0:01-0:09 are mine. Being tall (6'8") I didn't want to block others' view, so I stood in front of the tapers' tables which had about 15 raised stereo microphones. This show (my first) literally changed the rest of my life, because two hours earlier, I had purchased a sheet (50 hits) of LSD in the parking lot. Walked into the stadium as the P.A. speakers began playing Sergeant Pepper, and I remember "Lovely Rita" and "Getting Better" sounding other-worldly. Phil's bass had a great effect on me, and when I watched Mickey drum, his sticks seemed to bounce suddenly back from the skins, as if he were playing backwards. The giant monochrome display (upper left of the stage, not visible in this video) magnified each band member, and about halfway through the concert, that display started rendering effects similar those toward the end of this video. This concert was a spiritual experience for me, and changed how I see the world.

A man with a total lack of ego, content with making pleasing music the object of love and admiration, bordering on fanaticism. Knowing he was the main reason for the groups success. I truly believe it just wore him down. He's a big reason I know there is a God in heaven.

We might be the same age. I graduated High School in '93 and I first heard the dead in '89-'90 I first heard this song in particular on TV. PBS aired Ticket to New Years Eve and Terrapin REALLY struck me. I went out the next day and bought a copy of Terrapin Station on Cassette tape. I wore that tape out!

Graduated in ‘95. Saw the Dead April ‘94 in Orlando. It was supposed to be 2 consecutive shows but Bill Kruetzmann’s father had a heart attack (fortunately, he survived) so they made it 1. I heard police used tear gas outside on the crowd that night but I was already inside. Also got the chance to see them April ‘95 Tampa Stadium four months before Jerry died. Met the love of my life at that show, but he died 8 mos later of a heart attack. Worked for a while and then in 1996, I went on the first Furthur festival all around the country. That was amazing, but also kind of a blur. College after that. Good memories mixed with sad ones because I never really got over the death of my first love. And culturally, it’s seems like a different world now, everyone so divided in this era of trump.

ok - Im also wishing for some some truly deeper unseen treasures to emerge on Thursdays, but this version is a rolling thunder firebreathing she bear. Thank you for a mid day meltdown in the office. I needed that.

@@brendanfoley1593 Personally Im grateful for the Dave's picks releaqses and the subscription each year is a nice gift of 4 quality shows. Some of the vinyl theve released is also great; the Fillmore Feb 69 shows, the 73 Portland show, Cornell 77 on vinyl. All great stuff. And Im not gonna dip deep into the complaint well over these free youtube videos - but Id be really stocked to see some true vaulted video releases. The quality isnt that key on these releases for me since Im nto paying a dime on Thursdays for these - I just want some new fresh shit.

My favourite song of all time. Even with weak Jerry's voice at the time, still fantastic and so poignant.

Jason Spitzer I’ve been listening to the dead and phish this entire pandemic. One good thing about it is it got me back into listening to good music. Bad thing is it makes me want to go see some shows.

I was a junior in high school and lived about 15 mins from this place. I remember all of us kids were like let's go to the parking lot and find "weed" haha so naive, if only I had gone in. Oh well, college settled all that soon after. Dead music will always be about my best of times. Always.

Terrance even if you missed the Grateful Dead live ('95 or before), the music lives on and there are ways you can catch it live if you want. This is timeless music and we should keep it going and support those who continue to perform it live. The Grateful Dead were a musical group, yes, but the audience was as much a part of the whole musical experience as the band was/is. Just an idea, that's all.
