Ever party with the disco people after a show in the late 80's, early 90's? Somebody had a microbus loaded with a PA system. Boogied down till 3,4 in the morning with these people often. Great times on tour!

this one has better vocals by all members, which is really important for a tune that has all three singers harmonizing, so this.. Cornell has very tight transitions and the instrumental part feels like a story rather than a jam.. not better just different... i actually love the dead when they are loose and wild just as much as I like there shows where its super tight..

Funny how this jam jogs my memory of a grateful dead tractor trailer with the dancing skeletons on the side (one skull backwards) traveling west on market st in phila at night. This tune came into my head while i was thinking "i wonder if he is lost". I still see the truck when i hear this song.

@@jimmiddleton9951 The Cornell Dancin is more focused. Many of the other ones from that era tend to get noodly, even for GD standards. Calling any Dead show the "best ever" is really an exercise in futility. It's like comparing professional athletes from different eras. Each era of the Dead stands on its own merits. Having said that, I understand we do like to get in the weeds with stats and whatnot (~):}

Chuck ... but have you ever listened to the Sportotorium show? It’s the best show ever. Jk man Ive got like 15 favorite shows, I know there’s no such thing as one best Dead show. Except for 5/22/77. Im just kidding. There’s 3/19, 4/25, 5/7, 5/15, 6/9, 10/11, 11/2 in ‘77 alone, and don’t get me started on ‘70, ‘72, ‘73 or ‘74.

I prefer the direction Keith and Donna took the Dead....Brent was great, high energy, but they left behind such great gospel, jazz, country influences. Anyway, at this time, Disco was popular and the Dead put it out their way. Cosmic Disco... anybody remember "Cosmic Wimpout" ?
