About the Grateful Dead KZbin Channel:
Will you come with me? Won't you come with me? There's no better place to take a long strange trip with the Grateful Dead than right here. We've got music from every single studio album and a bevy of live albums, to boot. There are celebrated live performances from the 70s and 80s and official videos with more skeletons than you can shake your bones at, an exclusive seaside series on what's to come from the band's rich catalog and details on meet-ups all across the promised land. If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.
It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.

I played this song on my way to prison to remind myself i could do this. when i got in there i met the only other deadhead on the compound and we kept each other going thru music. He was white and im black but prison racial tension was never between us. We were from different walks of life and from different parts of the country. The only thing we had in common was the Grateful Dead and that was all we needed. When one of us was feelin down we'd crank up the tunes and jam. Makes me tear up thinkin about it. Couldnt have made it w/o him and the Dead is what brought us together, forever grateful.✌🏾😎🍄

The line, "I will get by, I will survive," became a mantra of resilience in the Dead community. When Jerry Garcia fell into a diabetic coma in July 1986, it looked like the group could be finished; when he returned to action in December, the group opened with "Touch Of Grey," reassuring fans that they would indeed get by.

My favorite uncle (RIP) wasn’t a fan of the grateful dead but he loved this song when it came out. I was a kid, but always caught me with the sound. This song always reminds me of him. Great memories.

This song always, always finds me exactly when it's needed... As I sit here on a rock smoking the last of my blunt on a bluff, I am looking out at the sky and wouldn't you know the sky is parted with grey and yellow and there is a silver lining right below the grey..... Life is one long, strange trip and it may all be goin to hell in a bucket, but AT LEAST I'M ENJOYING THE RIDE!!! ⚡ WE WILL SURVIVE!!!

My old love introduced me to GD. We had a blast going to concerts. We were late one time and Jerry G looked me in the eyes and smiled. My love moved on, but my love for the GD never died.

My uncle just introduced me to this song. He was trying to find it earlier so that I could listen to it but couldn't find it. After hearing that it had singing skeletons in it, I decided to look it up out of curiosity. Needless to say I never expected to start tearing up during it. Life's been a mixed bag for my family for a long time and this month has been especially rough for my parents and I, didn't expect for the lyrics to be so encouraging. Music is one of those things that can just affect you in different ways and I'm really glad I got to hear this one today. It makes you feel like you can get through anything

I always thought this song was the perfect definition of irony. A song, written and performed by a band who couldn't have cared LESS about "mainstream" popularity or number 1 hits, that gave a bunch of "misfits" an international voice 35+yrs after they started their long strange trip... I'm reminded of how the late Bill Graham described the boy's after the last show at the Winterland Auditorium in SanFran ... "They're not the best at what they do, they're the ONLY ones who do what they do!!" Have a grateful day!!

I believe this was their first chart topper. "Trucking" and "Casey Jones" probably would have, except for a mention of a drug in each song (though both were cautionary, not promotional). "Uncle John's Band" surely would have except for "GD well I declare". I don't know why "Ripple" wasn't a hit.

Took 101 and 1 up North from Oxnard to Monterey in a 1970 1/2 Falcon station wagon, and back again when the sun was coming up, to watch this show. Pretty darn cool. Still here.
