What can I do? I am not a "Dead Head". I am a neighbor of the Summer Nationals so this band in many of its phases played in my backyard. This song- just especially along with New Speedway Boogies- I love EVERY version, no matter how long or how unique these may have been. Each has a unique quality from its time and their lives. Like old friends, distant from where we used to be; in the horizon from ever where we had been before, just always happy to see, to listen, to feel these vibes, these songs- love 'em. Don't need a reason. High beams on the moon... ~ RaVen ~

Got a Shakedown my very first show, 9/6/80 at Lewiston, Maine. 14 minutes of crushing funk in the great outdoors to open the second set. Always loved this song, even though some originally mocked it as "Disco Dead", in the end everyone loved it. Jerry on the "Tiger" guitar, is Jerry at his best.

If you are referring to Bill Graham, he gets zero credit for contributing to the creative genius of Grateful Dead music. I knew Bill and even hung out with him back stage at shows often. I think he was a good guy and I liked him plenty. He for sure helped the band in many ways but is silly to believe he had a hand in the artistic creative soup of Grateful Dead soulfulness.
