I completely agree, '71 does not get nearly enough love. This whole show is really a must, and maybe my favorite...ever.

Classic version from the "Fallout from the Phil Zone" album. Probably the best short-ish Dead track ever. Jerry's solo just builds and builds after Bobby's rhythm lead-in. For reasons best known to themselves, the Dead liked to build energy and then blow it off. This track NEVER lets up. I can just picture Jerry stepping back with a satisfied smile after blowing everybody away.

Oh man! Bob comes in with those rhythm chords along with Phil during the end of Jerry's solo and turns the song into a full blown G.D masterpiece! This version was pure fire!!

Right, Will Pittman, 1971 is so good! One of my fav Dead's years, together with 1972 and 1973 (I love the one - Billy - drummer era). I'd say that the Road Trips' "Summer 71" is full of goodies.
