Ah, yes. I like this song, all the while not believing the underpinning ontological premises. I don't believe in the phenomenal reality of Hell as described or entertained in the Judeo-christian ontology. However, if I was to go there I'd like at least to "enjoy the ride."

When I was a kid, my dad would buy me any album I wanted as long as I would listen to one he got for himself and then he would listen to mine with me. I loved the dead, him not so much but did not insult my taste. I went to their concerts with friends and loved the laid back scene. Years later as my dad is elderly and not as well, I moved him in my home and we would listen to music or have a video of a concert. I did not get out the dead concert films until one day, not thinking, I put one in and my dad was just loving it. Hell in a Bucket was his fave tune. Listening today I felt like he was here with me. Been a fan since their first album came out in 1967 and yes that makes me 65 lol

I just read Bill's book and he said when they were driving in the Cadillac the duck was really drinking the champagne and it got drunk. Then they had to deal with a drunk duck. I like the Dead, but I'm not a Deadhead and I've been to a few shows in the late 80's and I don't know why Weir's song's don't get the respect that some of the others do. I've always really liked Bobby and think he sings good. I've always loved Sugar Magnolia.

I thank God for the day in 1990 when my sister, with her packed VW bus, invited me to go see the Grateful Dead in Vermont. I went. To experience the Grateful Dead, it was not a concert, more like an "event".... Everyone was in a good mood, no negativity. The parking lot was a farmers field, and it was one big party..we ended up meeting up with 2 other groups of friends she knew. We camped out of her bus and it was one of the best experiences I had. The fact Jerry only had a few years left, I'm so glad I went. It was one of those invites you know if you don't go,you regret it.... I ended up getting fired from my crappy job, but it was worth it...

I can't believe anybody liked this album. This was nothing like what they were really about. In The Dark, Go To Heaven, Built To Last, and even Blues For Allah were all made after their creative and innovative period were long gone and over. I don't know how old you are but from 67' to maybe 75' was the good stuff. I think these albums were just a result of them having to fulfill contracts they signed with the record companies. I've never known anybody that liked this album, but this song was played a lot live and live it wasn't half bad, but The Dead & a music video is just a ridiculous idea. A complete oxymoron to the kind of band they were.

@@carlo_cali I agree with most of what you said. But my expectations for this album was low. At that point of their career? It was alright. Certainly not like their prime. 'Go to Heaven' wasn't great either. As for their videos? Sit down and laugh at them...they are foolish.

@@Sassifrassilassi His character was, get ready, Bobby Wheeler, I don't recall his stage name, it wasn't Bob Weir though, I checked that much, but left that question out of my mouth around deadheads. His character always wanted, to become an actor, instead of a cabby. You're the best 4 getting back to me on this, so now I'm back to sincerely suspecting it was actually him, but dunno. I really love Jerry, doin that too. You know in tour in 91 in Kansas Jerry completely out of nowhere ended the show with Cosmic Charlie, you should listen, bye from Alligator. scott merrow In Brenden’s defense, it’s pretty damn cheesy and I think he’s eluding to the thankful fact that their niche wasn’t music videos or pop albums. But hell (in a bucket), I don’t know :) IMO, it’s the Dead and they earned the right to do whatever the F they wanted to do. Miss Jerry!

I don't know how I ever saw this till now...but I love it. I think it's meant to be a tongue in cheek parody of 1980s' excess videos. Bobby in the Miami Vice suit is a trip. About halfway through I was wondering where Phil was but when he showed up it was perfect. Phil had such an expressive face, that frozen smile he has on is hilarious for some reason; the whole video is. Even Brent, who often struck me as surly as all getup, seems to be having a great time here. Awesome video.

That is SO 80s! Were The Dead trying to cram in every last cliche? We've got scantily clad women, snakes, shoulder pads, a Tiger, bad dancing and red lipstick. Looks like Bobby and Phil were enjoying themselves!

I love the Grateful Dead, and they always had a very silly streak. This video rules hard. 1970s mentality with 80s shtick!

This sounds much more mature and modern than the 70s sound in my opinion. The 70s sound was too country sounding. This 80s sound goes more towards pure modern rock and alternative rock

One of my all time favs. Still quote this song to this very day. It was a theme of being a teenager, and still is now in my 50’s. This video makes me smile no matter what is going on. 😂

I'm reading Kreutzmann's book" Deal"and as I go along he makes a lotta suggestions for KZbin videos that go with his stories. Otherwise, I doubt I would have looked this up. I'm glad I did. It put a smile on my face. Sure, it's absurd and a downright bad video, yet it makes me strangely happy.

For 30 some odd years I thought he was singing,, “a taste of your elegant pie.” I only learned the real lyric to play in my band at the time.Funny that It made me think of Booger in that silly movie, “We’ve got bush. wE have bush!” First time seeing the video I had to do s double lookt to make sure the Dominatrix was not Kelly LeBrock. She was hubba hubba and a bag of chips when I was a teenager. “ do you boys want to take a ddhoeerThey wore swimsuits in the shower?”I probably would have too back then. Bwahahahaha!II’m cracking up here.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣✌️,❤️&🎸s.
