Hey Beautifuls, remember that LOVE is the best thing that we can do/be. This is the Energy that will change Earth to right, only LOVE opens the door to so much more power that we all have and are not using just yet, but when we get this going it is going to be Bliss, One Planet spinning around the Sun, whole and well air and water for generations to come, restored to Natural, the garden once more. I LOVE You and Yours more than ever today.

JAMMAN so wonderful to watch AND to hear!! the Dead were more to me than you can even imagine. I went home to their hotel room and danced on the stage forever at Porchester, NY but alas I'm now 64 years old with just memories. the 60's were my time to shine evidently. Bobby Weir thought so. he told me to stop dying my hair (I didn't) and to go back to college (I didn't) and quit smoking and hard drugs(i did) !! so, this concert is just one I watch and pray I see them one day in the afterlife

Seriously, '77 contains some of the best shows ever! Their sound was just so great. I have a soft spot for the late 80s through the end, since those were the shows that I got to see, but from a purely musical perspective, no way do they overshadow the previous years. Says me :)

One of the very best known live performances in my lifetime- by any band for any reason- period-Halloween 1980 -I was too young when this happened to see it- at the time- but I know this is a shining example of a band that was there for all the right reasons- and best times- just getting it going.

just by the way all are talking proves that this was one of the greatest experiments in musical history. Longest running show ever, each had it's special flare, people did not go to see a perfected scripted show, went to be part of an experience. This makes each and every the trip or part of the journey, unique onto itself. Many have followed from the start, watched as the band with no real money or backing became history. Fantastic ride

I'm sorry but 76-78 were some of the most incredible years of the Dead. I was there so I should know. Arguably 77 was one of the best years EVER! Brent didn't get really good until later in the 80's and he was great then. Not that this wasn't a good show because I was at this show as well but it took some time for him to integrate well into the band.

How can you not like this.? We were there and it was one of the best. If you weren't there I guess your opinion doesn't really hold water. Sorry dude. 1980. Great year. Great concert. Brent Mydland didn't even play circus piano and I don't think they even let him sing. Our gang had two rows that attended. It was awesome. They were tight. One of my top 5 concerts.... and I have seen many, all over the country. Frankin and Davis funny as hell. Can't stand Al Frankin now but they were funny then.

Pretty much but the key word there is "some" For me, every period of their career reflects its own unique constellation of sound, vibe, and complexity. The players fermented as a band and some of the 80s shows are just magical as could be with new levels of sound and their history overlaid onto the show... can't go back and can't stand still :)

My first Grateful Dead show was at the Spectrum. Last w/o Jerry.Got mobbed in the ladies room, chics that were asking me if I actually saw Gerry play. This was my first concert without Gerry. The DEAD played on May 2 2009. They were awesome. If not for the Jr. Dead Head smoking crack and being an ass it was perfect ,as with all dead concerts in Philly, we know how to TCB.Man, I have some stories. The band ended with Samson and Delilah. Very fitting since they tore down the Spectrum soon after.

Yes Brent's keyboard tone was pretty one-dimensional in the early 1980's, but he definitely expanded his tonal vocabulary as the decade went. Brent was a thoughtul and sensitive musicain and vocalist who was a great melodic counterpoint to Jerry.

THat is your opinion. I would say 72-74 was a definite peak as far as musicianship. 69-72 they were still learning to play. As Phil Lesh said of that era they were LSD stormtroopers. '77 has it's own impecible fat and tight sound. AND YES the 1980s showed yet another side of the Dead. 1989 and spring of 1990 being some of the best dead ever played.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS FOOTAGE!!! A+++! I alwlys wanted to see this show... this was one of my favorite recordings (reckoning) and this has brought to light the answer to a question Ive had for at least ten years, though forgotten... If Keith and donna were gone, replaced by brent, who was singing the falsetto harmony in cassidy? i thought it had to be donna, then reading the insert it was from 1980, and now there it is... it was brent! cutting overhead worked out i guess, 2 for 1. huh?

77 rocked. clearly the peak of that decade. the heroin started in 78. there's enough documentation of that fact out there. not to mention the archives for sonic proof. 80s was a rough ride, spring of 90 another peak, downhill from there.
