Instant subscribe. Jerry snarls and rips along with that crazy acid guitar, flashing with the trippers but staying true to the song in Classic American blues folk. Band well rehearsed, playing well. Primal, straight from nights at the In Room.

That's the way they did it... Jerry's great jam-band! Pig really listened... all those fills are Right. (They ALL listened, I guess... and picked up on the mood being set, and direction ahead). Was I there, that night? hmmm.. ^..^

man they sure took a leaf out of Dave Van Ronk's book. He was the first to cover this song, 'been all around this world' , 'samson & delilah', & of course 'teddy bears picnic'

Excellent Blind Lemon Jefferson cover by the Dead!

I came across this track today because someone posted that the Lou Reed version of this song highlighted how good a guitarist he was……no dispute with the view that Lou Reed was a brilliant writer/showman/guitarist/ genre-creator, but this version blows his out of the water. RIP Lou, and thank you in death for helping me find this track.

lou's take was completely different than this. i dont understand why people have to denigrate one in the process of complimenting another.

It would take more than this two out show Lou Reed LOL nice try though

Strange... I took EXACTLY the same path as Jam2morrow. And reached the same conclusions... RIP Lou, and rest easy, Jerry.

You got the title wrong. This song is called.. One Kind Favor

The original song by Blind Lemon Jefferson had this title. You are probably thinking of the cover by Canned Heat.

On Grateful Dead set lists, this song is called... One Kind Favor.

I see. My bad then. I personally prefer the original title (most artists who have sung it have used that, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, BB King, etc.), but each version is so different, even the lyrics differ substantially, they may as well put it under a different title.
