He wasn’t happy with the solo in the middle clearly but he more than made up for it in the last 3 mins. Dying in front of everyone he still had the power to show every last bit of love left inside of him through the notes and in the crying of his ballads. You can really feel just how much these songs meant to him, and it gives them a special meaning to you. Love you jerry ❤️

He was having trouble with his hands and fine motor skills toward the end and it seemed to me like he was pouring a lot more into his singing to make up for it. I think he knew damn well he was dying in front of everyone and that summer was his farewell. I was at the last Giants show... his playing was definitely disappointing at the time but I'd never heard his voice so clear and sweet.

I was 7 when Jerry died and no one ever told me how beautiful this man was. I found out 22 years later and am so happy his beautiful soul touched my life. Thanks Jerry.

This was a rain set at Three River's Stadium (super cool) then We all heard those chords strike up, yeah he's going to get into this one tonight." A lovely view of heaven but I'd rather be with you". Left me in tears. Hands down the best live S.T.O.M. I ever saw live. So on down the road a week or so later comes Soldiger Field Chicago and Jerry belted out the prettiest most soulful So Many Roads anyone had ever heard. Again in tears. Weeks later He Was Gone. Thanks Jerry, love that your music will flow through time to inspire soles everywhere.

Thanks for putting this up - last song I heard Jerry sing. I remember sitting in the very top of that stadium looking down at the rain-drenched crowd like I was standing on the moon myself, missing my girlfriend (now wife) who was 600 miles away, listening to Jerry sing like he was only singing to me. I guess that's why so many loved him - he had that magic.

Well put, my sentiments exactly. Just in Memphis 4-1-95 for me. 1st show, SOTM blew me away. Actually got eye contact many times that show, 1st row luck of the draw right between Bobby and Jerry. I’d pay good money, to find the video footage. When he sang”somewhere in San Francisco on a back porch in July” he pointed to someone about 10 rows back standing in his seat like he saw an old friend. Amazing.

The ole boy had a target on him. He could hardly function. His fingers wouldn't hardly work half the time...he gather it all togather in the end. He did care if he died right then and there. Puuure absolute soul!!!!! This guys nearly dying and plays the most stunning and epic solos at the end. He pulls and elvates this band up and then the whole stadium. Just when I thought I had heard it all...The Greatest.

I saw this at Highgate that summer. I was 19 years old and just getting into Phish and the Dead. I didn't really know what was going on but I still distinctly remember the power or this song. People were weeping. I had never experienced anything like that before. I was humbled. I cry everytime I hear it and I feel lucky to have seen Jerry sing it.

With this, man, he empty. You know? He gave everything. That's how you do it. Give everything. When you empty: home sweet home. Everybody's going. Everybody's going to heaven. Get confused listen to the music play and just chill. Turn on your lovelight and just chill. He'll come get you. He's the leader of the dead after all. And you'll recognize him no problem considering he made that easy wearing about the same Hong every night and burning that appearance into your cellular memory. And we can all be together forever and ever. Peace and Love. He did it perfect. Vibrated every spooky string there is and now we all liberated. Done and dusted. fork. Stuck. In. It. On this day am calling it: welcome to Earth. The profound site of total liberation. We are all going home. Live a happy life. And know- KNOW! Good won. Love your mother. Protect the Earth. This place is precious beyond measure, not in the least because God came as a man and played the guitar here.

Thank you so much for this recording and thanks to the band 🙏 Most especially my buddy Jerry . I Had not planned on attending the show. They had played out in Michigan prior. And a bunch of us stayed for George Clinton and Parliament P Funk. But a bunch of us decided to jump in the van and head for this show. It rained so hard and we had a child under the age of three with us so the security let us to hang out in the dug out of the Pittsburg pirates . I was present at Close to 300 Grateful Dead shows. This night I was staring out into the crowd during the first set and eventually caught the eyes of a bud from that I never thought to see . Stunned I stubbed him down and the rest is history . One of Jerry’s most famous photos in history is from this night during bird song . There were at least 500 swallows circling in 3 rivers as He sang and we watched and listened in awe

as a yinzer living in Pittsburgh I was looking forward to a Dead show, in the summer of 1995, in the ‘burgh...the last few minutes of this Standing on the Moon were sublime to say the least, Jerry was struggling vocally this summer tour, it was a hot/hard summer, but the guitar solo and “I’d rather be with you” at the end of this last version was absolutely perfect. Saw my first Dead show in Pittsburgh, Civic Arena in ‘85 and after 20 years & 100+ shows those few minutes here were a bright highlight of every song I heard/saw live

Wow thanks for this. I’ve been on a listening kick lately of so many of the show I was at this one sadly wasn’t one of them. I remember listening to this song on bootleg shortly after the show and of course after he passed and feeling so touched. This was one of my favorite songs to see them play down the stretch. Listening to this one broke me down. Very very touching “be with you be with you be with you….. I’d rather be with you…..” at the end. I miss him so much.

The last song I ever heard the man sing. This stands out for me as the highlight of that show, though I was also at 3/17/95 which was a better performance of the same song. Still, it's clear Jerry's singing his heart out, going for every flourish he can muster.
