No that scanner was a thing. I recall one being in the classroom when I was a teacher assistant. I do believe they only recognized the predetermined barcodes that a were on the items and they did pull it up as cereal, milk, apple, etc.. They were a basic system that registered the barcodes of those toy items.

Robo Robyn TRU has nothing to do with the final sales. Liquidation is determined by liquidators who have to come in and go through all the inventory in order to determine the % off sales. Since the stores aren't closing till about end of May or June sales start low than the % go up as they get closer to the closing date.

I’m not too upset that Toys R Us is closing. As much as I liked that store as a kid and the nostalgia linked to it, it was over priced. I also feel like Toys R Us failed to keep up with the times and modern day society. You can get all of those toys at Walmart/Target now days, sometimes for less. They should have made the store more exciting for the kids that grew up in a world of technology.

In 2014 we had a register toy with a scanning gun that did come with barcode stickers that would scan and recognize prices. It also had a credit card to swipe and a microphone /PA thing

Bunny! Youre not crazy! Those registers that really scan exist! I got one for my friends kid a few years ago - it came with preloaded phrases that matched That specific barcode! I forget what brand it was (not just like home) but i did get it at toysrus!

Bunny, I don't want to burst your happienss bubble but they're hiring before all the clearance sales start because it's going to get crazy busy...kinda like they hire seasonal help at the holidays.. I also have to believe they're hiring people to help with inventory as well as to help actually close the store...there has to be a LOT involved in closing a store the size of Toys R Us and Babies R Us. It's also possible they're also posting positions for Babie's R Us.

I love how they say "up to 30%" and everything it literally 5-10% LOL... What's even worse, is during liquidation the retailer usually brings prices up to manufacturer’s suggested retail price, and THEN apply a discount, so not only was 10% off essentially nothing on it's own, but you're probably paying MORE for some stuff LOL.
