way back in the early 90's i waited on him for months while he was filming something in Vancouver. He was one of the kindest people i ever met in the business. he would come in every evening to read his script and drink coffee and smoke. finally after about a month of waiting on him he said "why have you never asked me for an autograph or even acknowledged who I am?" it wasnt in an arrogant way....just inquisitive, I remember telling him that i presumed he would be tired of all that and just wanted to give him some peace time after a hard days work. he said he thought maybe he wasnt as famous as he thought he was. he gave me a $50 tip on a $10 bill and just kept coming in until the filming was done. on his final night he bought a few close friends in for a few beers and to say goodbye and let me know he was leaving town. I remember his kindness.

Me and my husband recently watched an old Ernest and Vern Braums commercial. I can't put into words how much we enjoyed seeing that! Brought back wonderful memories. Our son used to mimick Ernest constantly growing up. Lol. Thank you so much Jordan for this vlog! Your always such a sincere, kind and courteous person. God bless you and, little Jah.. 🙏😊❤️🐕

My dad was an extra in The Beverly Hillbillies. He said that Jim Varney didn't like the food that was catered for the stars. He went to the extras food tent and they all backed away and told him to get his food. He wouldn't get it until every one of the extras got theirs first.

Check out the book THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST by his nephew Justin Lloyd (VERY GOOD BOOK for any Jim Varney fan); found how he was an expert on watches and blades like knifes and swords (which is cool as I love anything sword-related).

@@RaiRaiBrown he didn't really have any family left to speak of. Not sure if the ex-wife knew those things were there, but legally she may not have been allowed to retrieve his belongings. He was my cousin's best friend but they lost touch after high school. I remember one time my cousin got beat up for defending Jim against some bullies from school. I don't think Jim was hurt very badly, but he brought my cousin home and he was hurt really badly. We were much younger (my brothers and I) and were sent upstairs while my aunt and uncle examined him to see if he should go to the emergency room.

Ah, man! Who didn't love Ernest? He was a favorite in our house growing up. Til this day, my mom always says "Know what I mean, Vern?" I loved him in everything he did. So sad he departed from us early. As Billy Joel sang, Only the Good Die Young.

I met him when i was younger at a parade in the Nashville area. Dude, he was so kind and spoke to you like you was all that mattered. Of course i got his autograph. Then i seen him again in an area near his home in Whitehouse, TN which is close to Hendersonville (Johnny Cash House) before he passed. I seen him from a distance and kinda yelled out "Hey Ernest, i know what you mean"! He smiled and waved. Ill always remember that about him. Such a great vlog Jordan! Thanks bro!

He was absolutely one of my favorite actors and the Ernest movies were such a big part of my childhood. When I heard that he passed away a few days after his funeral (this was before the internet was what we know it as today, so info didn't move as fast) it genuinely upset me. He just seemed like such a likeable and lovable guy, and I have never heard of a single person having anything bad to say about the man. Anyone that has ever had an interaction with him, and has talked about it publicly, has had nothing but good things to say about him. About how kind and humble he was and that he never let his celebrity status go to his head. He passed away far too young. I feel like he had so much left in him, but sadly I guess it was his time. Thanks for doing this video, Jordan (I know I'm like a year late, lol).

We used to shoot commercials with Jim Varney in Henderson Kentucky right across the river from Evansville, IN at Audubon Chrysler Center. We did a few with him sitting in the Dodge Viper that sits up in the air in front of the dealership. He would do sound effects like he was driving the car and then pull away with a cherry picker to reveal he was 25 feet up in the air.

That's funny you had Foody's line memorized. I'm 57 and my favorite movie is Home Alone. My sons are 37 & 31 so they grew up watching Ernest movies. Home Alone & Ernest reminds me of watching movies with my kids back then.

That is an actor I TRULY miss. My favorite Ernest movie was Ernest saves Christmas. My whole family quote him like "Keep your nose clean little lady!" Even though he was funny, you also REALLY felt for him when people mistreat him in the films. I also love him as the movie version of Jed Clampett and of course, Slinky Dog! May he always rest in Paradise.

Ernest saves Christmas is probably my favorite of the movies as well. But i really liked the TV show Hey Vern, it's Ernest! when i was young in the 90s. Too bad it was only one season.

I enjoyed Jim Varney! He was a great comedian, actor and person. I have seen everything that he has done! He always made me laugh just like Robin Williams did. RIP to both of them

You should visit in the spring when everything is in bloom. So many historic people and sights in Lexington cemetery. Not sure about the Opryland comments, but he was a dramatic actor at the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville,Ky. He lived on McVey Dr In Lexington at some point as a child across from my grandparents house. Then moved to Appomattox Dr. And there is a highrise condo building at the top of the hill on Broadway, left side about a block before Victorian Square. He lived there as an adult, sometime in the 1990s I believe.

I was gonna tell you I live in Oklahoma and Jim used to do the commercials for Braum's ice cream and dairy store. He was big around here in the 80s. A buddy of mine from high school met him at a in store promo. Still to this day his Facebook profile is a picture of him and Earnest at Braums. I'm glad you mentioned this.
