He has a more grand memorial - the body of fantastic work that he left behind for his fans to watch, enjoy and cherish!!! His actual grave and headstone are for his family really - and I'm sure, like everybody else, they wanted something dignified and not ostentatious or in your face, as while they understand that people will inevitably visit his grave to pay their respects, they'd probably rather not turn it into a neon bright tourist attraction that's highly inappropriate, y'know?!....

pps: my sister was an RN in the ER Dept at the hospital where John passed. She wasn’t on duty at the time, she had just moved out of state. But what she did understand by her coworkers, was that he came in with a torn and hemorrhaging aorta, which is and can be suddenly fatal, as it was in John’s case. This is very different from typical “heart attack” symptoms which are often overlooked and sadly ignored, when time is of the essence. His widow’s grief is certainly understandable, but when he came in, there wasn’t much they could do, with the blood loss and damage (especially thinking it was food poisoning all day on the set). Very, very sad case, and the whole staff felt it. He was known to the hospital and well liked.

Yes he was correct i am a part of the 10% of dissected Aorta survivors and it is pretty hard for most Emergency Room people to figure out what is going on in my case they ruled out a heart attack pretty quickly but i had to keep convincing people that i knew something was wrong eventually a cardiologist wound up seeing something on a X-ray he thought was wrong i also thought originally thought i had food poisoning as well i had this happen not long after John Ritters publicized death and i did have many nurses and doctors refer to him At the time so on top of him being a loved Actor and comedian I believe he did a lot of awareness for the torn Aorta and actually helped save my life by making medical personal More on alert of a not very common deadly medical condition at least in that time era

Such a sad sad day this was. I was working at Universal Studios at the time and I remember it was like Time stood still... Everyone around was on edge to hear his outcome... I remember you can hear the ambulance from our back lot while they rushed him to the Hospital... He was just a born natural to do slap stick Comedy just like Lucille Ball... Suzanne Somers mistakenly assumed that she was the star of the show playing the ditzy blond. She found out eventually that she was replaceable. John Ritter was the star of Threes Company and could not be replaced. Everyone watched the show because Jack made them laugh. John Ritter was a comedic powerhouse that everyone loved.

I had the honor of skiing w/ John’s older brother in our handicapped ski program at Pierce College in the 80’s. I was a blind and handicapped ski instructor, and we took his brother up on the beginners slope at Mountain High. Although physically he struggled, but he did well, and we hoped that his balance was helped with our working with him. Im very grateful to him for helping me propel into my career as a physical therapist. A true gentleman who stood tall by his perseverance!

That is hard to believe that John Ritter has been gone since 2003. I always enjoyed watching him whether it was on TV or the movies. Even my father after he retired could not get enough of Three's Company reruns and watched it daily. What a lovable guy taken too soon. I loved his epitaph on his gravestone how fitting for him. With a torn aorta, isn't that was killed Princess Diana? not sure anything could have been done to help him survive that. Rest in peace John you are loved and missed by many. And yes I can see the resemblance of your Dad and John Ritter.

OH man, I grew up watching John Ritter on Threes Company and all those shows that he guess starred on. You were trying to think of the other show you were surprised to see him on and I was talking to the iPad and saying, "MASH!". He played the crazy guy that almost killed Burns. Seemed like a great guy. I never watched 8 Simple Rules, but loved everything else he was in. That was a great tribute Jordan. He was taken way to early.

Three's Company was in it's first run when I was a child less than 10. My parents and grandparents, who were the people with whom I spent the bulk of my time, did not care for the show and felt it was "dirty", or at least that is how they tried to explain it to me with my limited vocabulary. I realize now the show was pushing the boundaries of time period and my family was uncomfortable with the sexual jokes and undertones. For years, I felt John Ritter was a "dirty" man, which I realized after seeing an interview where another actor praised Ritter in my late teen years was an opinion I had accepted, but was not my opinion because I knew nothing about the man. For me, John Ritter is my personal example of a rule I live by: Do Not Blindly Accept the Opinions of Others as Your Own

John played a furtasous guy on threes company. I think Susan summers dressed to silicy to be playing a navie young lady. On the set. She was ok until she started over doing it with that dumb laugh I kinda felt it annoyed John . / John and Janet were my favorites. Janet had quite a style when it came to dressing and doing her hair. For the the show..

Back in 2003 i was supposed to go to LA and attend a live taping of "8 simple rules" and I was so excited because I had always been a huge fan of John Ritter since I was a kid and now I was gonna see him in person! But then I got an e-mail about a week before the taping that said that live taping was cancelled because John Ritter had passed away - I was about as dissapointed as you can get - John Ritter was a great beacon of light and a comedic genius that was taken from us way too early - now I'll be singing the theme from Three's Company all day long - Come on knock on our door...

The great John Ritter is still in a three’s company situation, as far as I’m concerned, with Laurel and Keaton. I first saw him as a minister in The Waltons. Precious memories. John had the same heart disease that his father, Tex, did. I don't believe they found that out until it was too late. I'd also like to add that when Tex Ritter was on stage performing, the Statler Brothers ( country music group) would babysit John. John and the Statlers were great friends throughout their careers. Later on in the late 80's John would introduce the Statlers at a White House function for George and Barbara Bush. There is no video that I can find on KZbin, but I have a copy of it in my archives. There is also a very funny story with John and the Statlers in Jerry Lewis' dressing room when Jerry was on Broadway with "Damn Yankees", but I've already taken too much space here. John was definitely one in a billion. Thanks for the vlog, Jordan!

that was very nice and a wonderful tribute to Ritter's memory. now on knowing more about J.R. and his long history with and within Hollywood he seems even more extraordinary that he "never went Hollywood." he was unique.

I forgot to mention my Mother met John's father, Tex Ritter, in Austin Texas in the late 1950s & was so impressed with him that she talked about it for years.

Are you okay Jordan ? You looked a little sad or worried at the end of your vlog . I loved John Ritter and There's Company. He did look like your dad . I never seen a picture of your dad before. Very handsome man ....!! Great vlog Jordan and Jau . Thank you for sharing !!

Interesting vlog. I didn't know John had a brother. Beautiful mural of John on Hollywood High. I remember John in Three's Company. I know there was a lot in the news about John's death and them saying it didn't have to happen and then his wife filed a malpractice lawsuit against 2 of his doctors. Sad end to a fun man. Thank you for this nice tribute to John.

He was in a Kojak episode as a thief and wound up killing a women in her apartment. Not a role you would ever expect him to play.
