Another fun reaction. Really enjoying your role as cinema chaperone to your roomie and the discussions afterwards. I had to watch this film twice just for the alternative ending.

(At 5:10) only because Cillian Murphy, well remembered as Dr. Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow from the Batman trilogies with Christian Bale, just woke up from a coma.

The scene where Cillian Murphy bashes the Priest was on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments where he's in the church and he sees the Infected eating the bodies, and the priest tries to attack Murphy.

I don't think they were eating them. These "zombies" starve to death, they don't eat people, they just kill things viciously. They were just sitting in the church because there was nothing else going on for them lol

You can technically drink at 7 years old in the UK if your parents allow it, but you can buy it at 18
@Jake-nl3er Жыл бұрын
Where did you get 7 from? To drink in private it's 0 in Scotland, 5 in England, 5 in Wales, and 14 in Northern Ireland. To drink in a pub or restaurant it's 16 in Wales, Scotland, and England, and 18 in Northern Ireland. But this isn't normally enforced, at least not in Wales. To buy alcohol, or drink in public, it's 18 everywhere.

Re: why he thought that it was acceptable to, "give', the men women. I think that the ourbreak had driven him a bit mad. But also i think that he was focussed on the survival of his men at maybe any cost. He feels responsible for them. I think that he also feels that they may not be many people left in the UK. He may not even be convinced that this has only happened in the UK and that the UK has been quarantined. He may believw that they are kind of the last hope (or amongst the last hopes) for rebuilding the nation and perhaps even the world. He may believe that he represents the last of the military. Therfore, he's got to keep his men on-side and motivated. Not to mention building a new population. He seems very distanced, emotionless and functionalist. I think that he thinks that the survival of his soldiers and thus potentially the survival of his nation and maybe humanity is worth any cost; including murder, raoe, sex slavery and forced childbirth.

I don't know what trust has to do with it. That's what makes opinions opinions. They can be different from another. That's totally valid. Now if a factual assessment is being made or claimed, that's something else.

The “infected” distinction comes from Danny Boyle and Co. not wanting to be hampered by the supposed baggage that comes with the association with the genre-As much as I find the cold-open obnoxious and less logical than anything else, I also like to point out that unless there was some sort of Voodoo or Hoodoo magick or whatever, then these are as much a zombie as any other zombie since anything made after Night Of The Living Dead. I just get really annoyed by the conversation because it stems from the creators having some sort of embarrassment or shame around the genre. TBH, I’d rather just not have the cold open, (maybe we get Murphy’s character going under for surgery and then the title card, etc.-The ‘guy wakes up after surgery to a post-apocalyptic hellscape’ is pulled straight from the book, Day Of The Triffids. Some of the latter stuff also comes from that book as well, definitely recommend reading that book.) Anyway, I do still love this film.
@Damiana_Dimock Жыл бұрын
Oh, and something I think about everytime I rewatch the film: The soldiers were clearly already there at the blockade, waiting. Once you know what is going to happen you pretty quickly realize that of course they have eyes on that spot if they’re waiting for people to show up.

Thank you. The drinking age in the U.K. varies just as it does in the U.S. In the U.K., as in much of the U.S., parents or responsible adults can allow children of any age to drink alcohol in the home, or other private place. In public parents can allow the drinking of alcohol bought with a meal from 16, other wise the purchase and consumption is legal from 18. There are slight differences for Northern Ireland.
