I Found this Hidden Graveyard and mausoleum full of coffins. It looked like something from a horror movie.

I looked into Private Oliver Havens G/26056 who's grave you found. He was 39 when he died from wounds after The Battle Of Mons/Belgium. He was attached to 3rd Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was born in Waterford, but lived with his wife, Annie Havens, 9 Manson Place, Queens Gate, London. (House still there). His parents bought him home for burial at Temple Michael Church Of Ireland Church Yard. (Only military grave there). Great video, thank you!! 👍

@@Spartacus45 That would be very interesting - in a sad but very satisfying way for you? I hope that you tell the soldiers' stories!! Do you publish them? Or read them on a podcast? That would be amazing to hear... My own family has a long history of soldiers, many who did not return, and I've been piecing together their known movements after their landings in various theatres of war, and poring over maps to learn the known movements of their regiments etc... I guess you could say I'm trying to find out their individual stories too : ) I managed to track my Grandfather's war grave down to 1 of 43 Unknown Soldier's graves due to the existence of POW camp records of exactly where he'd been when he died - just 2 weeks before VE Day😢. His was a long story of the greatest POW travesties & suffering .on an unprecedentedly barbaric scale 😒💔 I've also managed to track my father's movements throughout WWII, again thanks to the records available. I can make out much of his story - I'm able to get a picture of everything he refused to ever talk his family about.. and I totally understand why he never did.. It was horrific for him & his brothers. Their stories should all be told, one by one! I'm glad you're on the case ❤️

The Buffs Case Contents With origins dating back to 1572, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) was one of the oldest regiments in the British army. Originally known as the 3rd Regiment of Foot, it was renamed after the creamy colour of the soldiers’ buff uniform coats. Our display is of items loaned by the National Army Museum, London, which cares for the regiment’s collection.

Can’t believe how good the coffins look! They sealed the area well to keep water from getting in! Even the flowers haven’t decayed much. That family made the crypt/mausoleum well! Think that’s one of the best ones you’ve shown!

I love exploring old church yards. Unfortunately, where I live, there are not many abandoned churches or church yards to check out. Access is restricted. In the part of Virginia, where I used to live, there were old cemeteries everywhere, including on people's private land, dating back to when people buried their family members on the land they owned.

Cool old graveyard.. good place for a ghost hunt.. sounded like a phone interfering with your microphone but what was making it do that is the question.. could be just metal's in the soil and rocks and stones etc but it could be something else 😊 great video btw

The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), formerly the 3rd Regiment of Foot, was a line infantry regiment of the British Army traditionally raised in the English county of Kent and garrisoned at Canterbury. It had a history dating back to 1572 and was one of the oldest regiments in the British Army, being third in order of precedence (ranked as the 3rd Regiment of the line). The regiment provided distinguished service over a period of almost four hundred years accumulating one hundred and sixteen battle honours. In 1881, under the Childers Reforms, it was known as the Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and later, on 3 June 1935, was renamed the Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment).

That bottle in the mausoleum looks like it's still full of whiskey. At first I thought some cemetery worker disposed of their empty bottle there, but at second glace you can see the distinct level of amber liquid in it. I think someone in there sure loved their whiskey.

No evp’s this time Cathal, but a lot of heavy breathing from you! Lol….and it DID sound like you were chewing gum at one point too! So I don’t know what was going on. Your usually very fit! So perhaps you had a heavy coat on and those wellington boots were hard work 🤣😂🤣 oh Cathal….you are funny , but your forgiven after showing those stunning coffins to us in that mausoleum…so glad there had not been any break ins and vandalism….I dread that nowadays. It’s a shame the grounds were so overgrown and uncared for. I was going to suggest if you carried a pen knife with you, just cut through the ivy stem low down. Know you don’t like pulling the growth from the stone in case you damage it, but the ivy Suckers will do that a anyway, you see how they work themselves into the mortar or actual stone! So just sever at the lowest point and it will die back itself. I’ve been watching an old boy clearing an over grown church yard near where I live, and He was doing that..said he’s always done it or sprayed the base with round up weed killer…but now aware of the beasties and things that live lower down he’s reverted to his old pruning knife. That was an interesting church but I worried bits might fall when you were looking up to where the bell had hung. That looked very unsound now, so lucky the bell had gone! Would have been awful if that had landed on your head! I do hope your both keeping well? And do wish one of you would reply to my request for a post office box, as I’m desperate to send these books I’ve bought especially for you as a gift! Could you just give me the address of your local post office, and if ok with them I will send there for you…not huge parcel, but it’s sad I can’t give you my special gifts! ☹️😢 Love and light, Helen 🙋‍♀️xx

A most contemplative video GV, seeing those very old headstones & the well kept crypt gave me chills just watching this, also I had a feeling you may have been in the company of other energies near and about your person while walking through the raised area in the overgrown graves section? The area in general would be fantastic as a film set backdrop, I could sense a lot of history in those woods, the Smythe family mausoleum is awesome and great to view the coffins from another perspective, I imagine they have been preserved due to a dry solid floor & ample ventilation, I noticed that all seven coffins were placed/positioned facing the door, heads forward? I very much enjoyed watching this explore many Thanks for sharing in your adventures...S.👍👍

Why was the East Kent regiment called the Buffs? The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) | National Army Museum The 3rd Regiment received its nickname of 'The Buffs' because it had been issued with buff coats when it first served abroad in the Low Countries. It was later given buff-coloured uniform facings (collar, lapels and cuffs) and waistcoats to distinguish itself from those of other regiments.

Thanks for another great video. Beautiful day and lovely views stand in stark contrast to some of the tragedy we see in these old graveyards. The daughter, Helena Anna Mary Moore dying at such a young age (25 yrs) having never been married. Very sad. The family probably never imagined that the church would one day be abandoned and therefore the graveyard not maintained when they erected their grand mausoleum. On a positive note, it was nice to see the coffins in very good condition and that no grave robbers had broken into the coffins! May they rest in peace. .

Great video guys! Thanks! I counted 7 possibly 8 coffins, and the ones that survive the best are on blocks or other devices to lift them off the ground. I suspect the one at the top left is the remains of a lead coffin that may have been on the floor and deteriorated. Did you notice the memoriam for Catherine Fleming? She passed 2015, and she erected the other memorial to what looks to be past family members. But I can't read the very bottom of the stone for her, but it may be something to do with Templemichael?

Thanks GV very interesting histories, You might find it beneficial to carry a walking stick when you go on your travels through these old over grown grave yards GV, then you can test the ground in front of you as you walk through unchartered terrain lol and also Serenity Sue could use one to help her balance, something to lean on for balance, you can pick them up quite cheaply in charity shops. look forward to more adventures take care now. oh by the way the script meaning on top of the mausoleum means "United strength is stronger "Never Content", in other words, always wanting more, never full. And also above the mausoleum door " In Hog Signo Vinces " means In the Heart of Jesus, I've tried to to translate as best I can lol

Loved the inside of that masoleum Cathal. It is still in very good and dry condition. No mold or mildew growing - just in perfect condition. The little casket in the upper right hand corner looked like that of a wee child. GREAT FIND! Really loved this even if it is overgrown and headstones hard to read. I appreciated it. Thank you. As an aside, I own a Dyson called the Animal. Great for dog hair. Couldn't find a better one! Take care.

Definitely someone trying to make contact with you. It also sounds like a voice as you went into the old church. Loved the video as always.

I just love the way y'all save the best for last 😂.. 🤔 just a thought as I am Irish blood, it would be neat to accidently find ancestors from long ago just by watching you guys. That Ray of sunlight 😮 so beautiful shinning among the tombs. Monchet 🤔 on the coffin. That's so neat, .... Ok hold on lets set and go fishing 😂 another great video guys . Y'all are my favorite folk to go grave walking 🤗. Looking forward to the next adventure.
