This is misleading info. The road certainly gets the pilgrims to the border (Lipulekh Pass), but they have to enter Tibet to reach the base of Mt Kailash and start the parikrama. My impression about WION has taken a serious beating due to this misleading reporting.

I fear the reporting is not correct. Indians can't visit Manas Sarovar without accessing China occupied Tibet. The road Indian government is building will cut the long route to a shorter one. But Lipulek pass is a part of Nepali Territory which Indians authority have invaded due to lack of presence of Nepalese authorities. The tri border between India, Tibet and Nepal should be confirmed first before issuing this route as the border issue will be more opened up after the route is opened.

Authorities should not allow vehicle to go at the feet of mount Kailas by vehicle. Other wise environment over there would be polluted. Let the pilgrims go by foot or pony this 6:5 km and enjoy the divine atmosphere of the place. There should also be restriction on the entry of number of people as unlimited entry will create calamity. We should have a process in place just like New Zealand have in place to maintain the serenity and beauty of the nature. Even without the road pilgrims could do the yatra from india by foot. It meant that only the truly determined could make it. The terrain and ecosystem is very fragile. Constructing roads there has already lead to repeated landslides for the past two years. This is going to put many lives in danger and like all other accessible religious shrines in India, will end up in over tourism. The government needs to be extremely vigilant regarding this.
