I am a Lyft driver. I am a kid in my 20s. I agree with you and I thank you for this. I never ask my customers to give me a 5 star review. I never ask for a review period. Why? Because I’m old fashioned. I’m traditional. The traditional way is: Don’t ask for reviews. Don’t ask for tips. Never. My service should speak for itself. My service is where I should focus. If the customer is compelled to tip or review, it MUST come from their hearts without asking. Why? Because real loyalty, real admiration, real Love CANNOT be purchased. My father and mother taught me this. That’s why I never ask for tip or reviews. If I’m short on money? I simply get a better job. Ask me to review Lyft? Sure. Lyft has forced over 4 company wide pay cuts since I’ve been driving. Before the pay cuts I used to make $300 a day or even $400. Now? I struggle to make $100 a day. I still like the job because of the convenience. But I wish they would reverse the 4 pay cuts. They use pay cuts as punishment for Lyft employees who’ve been demanding rights and union. When you demand Union or rights, Lyft punishes everyone by doing pay cuts and justifying it with meaningless disrespectful “benefits” To live really well in the United States and be comfortable, you need to make a minimum of $2000 a week. It’s possible to live well below that. But for me to pay for an apartment in Washington DC and own a modern car like a Tesla and have a medium to high quality medical insurance that works at any hospital and covers most of your medical treatment and life insurance and living insurance and accident insurance and to purchase organic fresh food every week and pay for a good modern high quality phone and laptop and pay for school tuition all by yourself while still being able to visit your family and have a normal social life instead of being a Otaku? You need to make minimum $2000 a week. Anything less and you’ll struggle. 2000 a week is roughly $290 a day from your job. If you do a 12 hour shift at your job, that’s roughly 24 an hour pay rate. (I rounded) The best job I’ve ever found (and I’m trying to do) is a fisherman job. Fisherman make so much more money. American fisherman make $10,000 a month. I’m not a baby so I can handle it. You can become a fisherman straight out of American High school. The qualifications are High school diploma and US work authorization. My company wants CPR (50 bucks online training) and they’ll train you themselves. Driving for Lyft nowadays full time feels like you’re being low balled.
