Good thing. Your aid reached the needy directly without via media. I am often tempted to donate seeing appeals from various agencies like help india, unicef children fund old age homes, save india. I'm so glad Palki discussed this, as it's something I've considered when trying to decide whether to donate money from my very limited finances. I turned skeptical after reading a story about the WWF, created by Prince Phillip to help animals in the wild. The exorbitant costs involved in WWF's administration far outweighed the money going to actually help animals. Let's be honest...if there's a way to rob a cause or illegally use a technology, the rich and others will utilize it. It's truly a tragic loss at a time when so many in so many places are suffering, and the very people that gain the most from that suffering find a myriad of ways to continue doing so.

I recently got a call from a UNICEF intern for donations. UNICEF has trained their interns to guide the people to the payments page and make them feel guilty if they don't subscribe to monthly payment obligations. Thankfully, I had the courage to say this to the intern very kindly: We as taxpayers already contribute about 30% of our income directly, and a huge part of our income indirectly. We are already doing service to the society. Why is UNICEF not going to corporates for CSR funding? Why are we as taxpayers made to feel guilty about not paying more? Thanks to this video, I will add this point the next time I get such a call. When the aid does not reach the intended beneficiaries, why are we paying it? For the farce of Syrian war being called a 'Crisis' for years, and Ukrainian crisis being called a 'war' according to the Western discourse? Nope. Not happening.

I recommend everyone read ‘Manufacturing Urgency’ the book that blows the lid off the entire international development industry. This is excellent and provocative reporting. I say this as a board member and former Rotarian (who still believes in the model of micro-entrepreneurship support as a vehicle for internal development). Thank you!

Ever since I witnessed what never happen to the struggling Haitians I've only donated to the War Amps. Money from my hand directly into the hands of the homeless. Hospitals selling tickets to raise money are looking more like lotteries, happening for years & still no cure,s, God forbid they announced a cure, the last thing big pharma wants.

Rajiv Gandhi when new to politics mentioned that only 15% reaches the needed people. I will share my experience. Every month I used to donate to CRY but this long back 80s or 90s period. Somewhere I read the person heading the project was drawing 20L salary. The person is having a good social background and not at all short of money. My view was that it should be voluntary helping children. Hence I stopped donating. Now whatever help I do is in my area. This gives me satisfaction that full help is received by the needed person.

@@asingh8759 please, PM Cares fund was another big scam. Smart people I know (including my family) helped migrant workers in our locality DIRECTLY. No point in giving money to this bullshit.
