It was much different country back then. Before the Kievan ultra nationalist gang took over in 2014, under the western guidance.

@@agentsarcas6891 Well, they offer medical courses in English as well. So, it's not a big deal. A lot of people understand some basic English, at least in Tire 1 and 2 cities. But if you are planning to settle in that country or any other country. As in my country, it is rather difficult for foreign doctors to practice here because the rules are very strict. You're supposed to clear an examination conducted by an Indian body. Hardly foreign graduates are able to crack that. So, most of the graduates settle in other countries or in Ukraine itself. So they get to learn local languages. If you have no intention of moving there, English will work very well.

I'm here only to listen to Palki saying those two words... WUHAN VIRUS. What I get in return is the calmness, maturity and empathy we Indians have for our friends in Ukraine. Russia might be our long term time tested friend cum ally, but when it's about Ukraine's Independence, India must take a stand and support the Ukrainians.
