Howdy Bryan. I’m another Defiant owner also but mine has the non-adjustable arms. Like you I was “lucky” and needed to drill the fuel line hole. I agree, it was very easy to do. I didn’t get a mug though :-( I have a bit more assembling to do and then the break-in. Now that I have time I hope to have that done tonight. I’ll look forward to more from you on this machine.-Jim

I think honestly it would depend on how much fuel you had in the tank. Also the auto inflate flotation would probably counteract that as well.

Have you had many flights on your Defiant? Curious to know how you compare/like it compared to your Maverick. Thanks
@BryanPearsonParamotor3 жыл бұрын
I have maybe 8 flights on the defiant now. It’s damn nice. They both fly really well, but I do like the ability to tinker with the arm adjustment and stuff on the defiant. It’s a little heavier than the maverick, but has more thrust. So overall, it’s still a toss up. They’re both so good!
@J10on4ds4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan, Thanks for the review. I'm curious about the "portability" of the defiant compared to say the Maverick. Let say you want to store it inside a vehicle. I see where the netting arms come off pretty easy, with their detent system, but can the netting be "loosened" enough to take the arms off? Or would you need to restring the netting every time?
@BryanPearsonParamotor4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the defiant breaks down pretty easily. The netting stays attached to the hoop sections, and you simply lay them all together accordion style and it’s a pretty tight package. If this is your main goal, or you have to do it very often, I’d still give the upper hand to the maverick in the travel regard. It just breaks down a bit quicker, and a bit smaller. If you’re really wanting travel or breakdown ease, check out the MacFly travel cage. It’s probably the best I’ve ever seen for that. As well as one of the best flying units around. Even better than my beloved maverick. Shoot me an email at oregonparamotor@gmail.com and we can chat on the phone if you want. It’s so much quicker to relay this info via voice 🤙

I am really considering the Gravity Defiant. Being an engineer, I like the idea of building it so I know every aspect of it. That said, one thing that concerns me is I have a degenerative back and someday in the hopefully distant future I will have to give up foot launching. As far as I can tell there is no trike option that would fit the Defiant. I still may end up getting one anyway.
@BryanPearsonParamotor4 жыл бұрын
They’ve let me know they have plans for a trike mount of some sort. And there’s no reason you couldn’t have something made to your specifications. I’d say, if foot launch is an option now, go for it. Cross those other bridges later 🤙

Very nice build review. So now, 2 years later. What is the problems you have had? I heard some people have had problems with the fuel suction. Anything you have experianced_
@BryanPearsonParamotor Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the wonderful machine that is the gravity paramotor, was plagued by problems with the company that made them. We had a tough time getting replacement parts, answers to questions, replies to emails were tough to come by, etc. So I quit selling them a while later. The unit was good! They did have a fuel delivery issue, which they fixed with an updated gas cap. There were some other, small issues, which cropped up, but they weren't really any worse than any other brand of paramotor. They all have their quirks. Replacement parts are EXPENSIVE. That's one pretty major downside. Overall, a good paramotor, probably over-engineered, with poor to average customer support 🤷♂

Nice job on the video. I have a concern about how the hoop will hold up to a slip/butt landing that doesn't hit the fuel tank...only hits the hoop. I know the hoop section is strong, but I don't think the lower arms and hoop section will hold up to that. The Maverick is quite strong in that area, but I have still seen a couple of those that have bent. For experienced pilots, it probably isn't a big deal, but mistakes can still happen.
@BryanPearsonParamotor4 жыл бұрын
They’re saying that the bottom section of hoop will generally take the brunt of any impacts. That’s the point they’re estimating will fail, if any. And that’s a really cheap, easily replaceable part which is kind of nice compared to a maverick, which has pretty damn expensive replacement parts

Hey Bryan, GREAT video, well done! Do they make a smaller frame that an Atom 80 would be better suited for?
@BryanPearsonParamotor4 жыл бұрын
At this time, they do not have a smaller version. This would not be my first choice for an atom 80 machine. I think something like the new/unreleased kangook, Macfly, or a Parajet maverick would be better for a pilot needing a smaller and lighter unit
