The recycle thing isn't just Norway, it's Sweden, Denmark and I believe Finland as well (might be other countries too). It's a way to incentivise recycling and promote people to avoid littering. @@westrim Well, unless you have a habit of stomping on cans after drinking them, I don't see where the problem is with that. As long as the bar code on the bottles and cans are intact and not buckled, they usually go through, and for bottles you can often just blow air into them or just unscrew the cap to undo most damages. I don't think I've ever had a bottle so crumbled down that I couldn't recycle them, and I've likely recycled thousands of bottles by now

I recently went to a music festival in Germany where they had a bottle & can return machine in which you didn't need to insert them one by one but you could dump a garbage bag full with cans & bottles into it and it would sort and count those for you. Took around 1 minute for the machine to count our 72 beer cans and 4 bottles, which single handedly paid for our next rack of beers. The return machines that you showed are also common here, but it was the first time I saw one that handles huge loads at once. I call them return machines, since they don't really recycle the bottles & cans just yet, they just squash and pack them, which of course shall be the first step in the recycling process.

@VivekYadav-ds8oz Жыл бұрын
And before people comment that they still sell the cows away to slaughterhouses after it gets too old, remember that it still lived a much more full life, most farmers actually don't, and to a farmer his family is still more important than an animal, however sentient it is, and if it can help feed and educate his children then it's worth it (they are very poor).

I'm sure that it's already been said a dozen times by now but the United States absolutely has several states that have bottle deposits and you can return them for money. Oregon currently gives $0.10 per bottle/can, which is a recent increase from $0.05 per can/bottle. I think Oregon is one of the first places in the world to implement the bottle deposit in 1971 as well. I could be wrong though. Those machines are also commonplace in the States that participate in a bottle and can recycling/deposit scheme, like the one shown in the video. I also know from the Seinfeld episode, that Michigan has a bottle deposit redemption value as well.
