One thing I think that's great about the no forced PvP stuff is that it allows you to focus on the story and the quests like you said. However, while there aren't any direct missions requiring PvP, it sounds like as you continue to unfold the story and are finding out more about "The Event", you'll be doing quests that take you to higher player traffic areas. So instead of simply doing recon and intel grabbing, you might get to a quest that says "talk to X person in this town, they know more and will direct you on how to proceed with the mission"...that town being somewhere that players often go to because it's a bigger POI with better loot, enemies, etc., and it's somewhere you can fight for control over with your faction. So while quests aren't going to force PvP, I think they will take you to areas and POI's that result in more PvP engagements the farther you get into the story, also meaning the more leveled you are and thus are better geared and equipped to handle PvP engagements.

My biggest gripe with Tarkov is the forced PVP. Maps are smallish and you usually spawn real close to another player. The playerbase also just flat out seek pvp for the thrills and this in turn makes Tarkov a glorified deathmatch.

I like that @Show_XR talks about how hopefully PvP engagements in this game will feel more suspenseful and tense, and also be more rewarding if you win, because of the focus being PvE first. Having less PvP hopefully translates to the stakes being higher every time you do have one!

@@jayjohnson-t2y Please correct me if I'm wrong @Show_XR, but the game doesn't have a time limit because it is a "persistent map", meaning that whether you are inside the game or not, it is ever evolving and progressing. The best example would be the FOB's and the militia/bandit camps. If you get off the game, those FOB's and camps can still be conquered by another faction while you're gone. Then, when you then get back on the game and onto the map, you'll see those changes and your faction will have to recapture those camps. If it weren't a persistent map, when you log off the map doesn't change. It only exists when you are playing the game. I hope that makes sense.

For me the biggest thing is not having to start a game with 12 other people at the same time. In eft i often get killed within 3min of spawning since chads seem to seek out closeby spawns. On gwz that is not gonna be as much of a problem

did you ever play The Cycle Frontier? It was a sci-fi stylized take on the same type of game as Tarkov. They were the first game to do persistent servers where people constantly come and go. The game was way more enjoyable (from a spawn standpoint) than Tarkov at raid start

looks great for now, but we had same stories already written - marauders, the cycle frontiers, COD DMZ - all of these games were supposed to be "tarkov killers", but here we are with tarkov being still on top. The only game that is breaking this scheme is dark and darker, but it is not fps game. Game looks fantastic, but for now i won't be so optimistic and I should go for another tarkov raid.

I never claimed it would kill tarkov and I laugh at the people who say it will, despite its flaws, EFT is the standard for this type of realistic tactical shooter game. This game isn’t classified as an extraction shooter it’s a PVEVP open world RPG with a streamlined story. The PvP will serve as a layer of high stakes excitement on top of the missions. DMZ, marauders, and cycle were all more of an extraction based looter shooters. This game is at least trying to do their own thing, I’m curious how it will pan out.

well, here is the thing. it's not a tarkov killer. this obsession with killing other games usually only comes from players. This game very obviously aims for something different. I mean 42km² for only 48 players? That's on average maybe 1-2 players in each km², including your own squadmates. Even the devs themselves said this game doesn't aim to be a tarkov killer, so we should drop this obsession with trying to kill Tarkov.

I hope if they do decide to include wipes they only wipe skills and mission progress and not gear or trader unlocks. Waiting for the game which isn't a grind festival which allows you to build guns you want from the get go. Hopefully with the game being lore and PvE focused the devs will be less stringent with gear unlocks and what's being locked walls. I think being able to customise your gear to a degree from the get go could help set this game apart from tarkov and simulate the immerse experience they are going for. Also holding onto hope they let you run PvE missions with multiple squads in your faction. Would solve my friendship group's problem of having 7 people online on a 5 man squad game.

yeah, resetting it during EA and one final time when the game has it's v1.0 release makes sense, but for a game that seems to aim for a hyper focused pve experience to the point they will offer pve-only servers, it just makes no sense to me, why I should have my save deleted for playing solo/co-op. I could understand it for pvp, but pve shouldn't have to suffer resets. this is one of those games where after I have unlocked or bought all the cool equipment, I will turn it on from time to time and do a mission for fun, the last thing I need is after a 6 month break to be greeted with an empty inventory/storage, that would honestly just kill my desire to keep on playing.

I’ve agreed with this before I like the idea of ongoing servers with no wipes and then a 6 month or 12 month wipe on the other. You have to understand eventually max level and max skills along with no more story the player base will die. Games today are incorporating “seasons” “wipes” “splits” to keep a cycle of players returning over time.

All progress is saved account side. You will be able to gear up before you deploy for your mission. Progression unlocks better gear, traders, and cosmetics. Idk about spawning in with an already preset of loadout or not

The game will have multiple ways to get through the story. Certain ways to level your character, fob locations and LZ discovered. I believe within 3 months the server would be hell for a lot of casual players. Plus having the reset allows people to pursue the story (with new additions) in a different way than before. Just all depends on what gets wiped I guess.

@@honkhonk1555 the values that most common armors change your sens by is not even that drastic. I play at a really low sens (400dpi .26 ingame), so changes of sensitivity are easier to notice and mesaure for me. The difference in using no armor vs lvl 5 and a helmet for me is 2" per 360 turn. So if it takes 26 inches of mouse movement to do a 360 with no gear, it takes 28in with full gear. At higher sensitivities its barely noticable. What youre most likely experiencing is the sens cutting in half when you sprint/jump, or just the general sway of the aiming. I used to think this was a bad mechanic until I did the testing myself. Its mostly a mental thing. Knowing your sens changes makes you play different even if you cant fully percieve the change

Its 2024. The 2070 is a 6 year old GPU. I ran a 1070ti until a few months ago. Its time to upgrade. Newer game engines like UE5 just flat out require higher end hardware to render properly. Even well optimized games like Fortnite struggled for me until I upgraded. You can't have BOTH a well-performing game AND a game that pushes modern graphics to their limits. We have plenty of games that run fine on old hardware. New games from here on out, especially ones on UE5, will just require good hardware.

PLEASE DO NOT WIPE THE GAME TOO OFTEN or AT ALL. Wiping is a totally inept way of handling progression in your game. Create, provide and implement better progression systems. Wiping is merely a cop out for good game systems and proper development. I am all for it in early access but as a permanent fixture, it's a bogus method of handling progression or how to introduce new players in the game. Also, why wipe a game with a pve focus and pvp being optional?

Because there is multiple ways to get through the story and different ways to level your player. Similar to why people had multiple characters on Skyrim. This game is persistent and doesn’t restart just because you reset or start a new character. The idea of wipes in a longevity approach for the game. Many successful games today have seasons, splits, wipes, to keep players cycling back to their game to see new features while at the same time not being totally behind. It’s a longevity approach for the success of the game. And for them it will give players the ability to try something new with the story/PMC like choosing a new faction or play style.

@@Show_XR Exactly, if you want to have multiple characters then you should have multiple toons then if it's a "I want to experience the story a different way". Wiping is not an excuse still, to implement progression systems in these games. Tarkov has already demonstrated a way to handle the "new player experience" by having a map that lvl20+ can't queue on so that ppl won't get hit by m62 if they come in half way through a wipe. These games don't need wiping as a long term solution to maintain players, get new players, and create longevity. Seasons, splits, etc are totally different than essentially erasing progression you spent time on. If games have seasonal-type progression, that should be completely separate from my "main character". It is extremely boring and monotonous to have to re-level and do the same quests over and over, each "wipe" (if implemented long term) because it's nothing new. I am sorry but, there are too many people who are what I like to call wipe apologists when it comes to these games and wiping games to create long term/engaging and unique content is a total cop out for quality game development
